First off it's about 1500 feet closer to sea level (CA Speedway = 1121 ft above sea level, LACR = 2710 ft above sea level)... that's enough right there - but wait, there’s more!!! There is no phucking dirtbike track next door so you don’t end up in 4" layer of dust... The track has been renovated so the surface and facilities should be much better.

I haven’t raced there yet but it should be a whole lot better than LACR - probably more crowded though. Also a friend of mine told me the direction they made the track is a little quirky - I don’t remember which way but he says there’s almost always a head wind.

Anyway... let's go and find out!

Gates open at 7am for tech inspection, racing starts at 9am.

I have never spun my drag radials or had such inconsistent 60ft times as I had at LACR. That track is crap, nice to get practice in because you get a lot of runs, but go to Irwindale if you want to practice your launches. At least there the track is smooth and hotrods are laying down rubber and keeping the track warm in the evening.

+1000!!! I tried to get a feeler for Irwindale a couple of weeks ago when everyone was going to LACR - no one responded... If anyone is down for Irwindale let's do it! It's only 1/8 mile but it's close and fun. It's only Thurs nights I think.

That's a hell of a better track to practice launching. It's prepped and the hotrods that are geared for the 1/8 really do keep that first 60' sticky.

My first run at LACR was my second best run the night I went. As soon as the sun dropped the track gets cold and traction is more of an issue than the elevation. Go with Derek to Cal Speedway. Be ready 1 group before they call up your group and get in the front of the staging lanes for your group. That way you're not idling and inching up in line.

I used to go to Irwindale once or twice a month before. but I stopped since none of my friends ended up going and I started going to LACR.

But, I will check this week when I don't have an exam on a Thursday night so I can miss that class.

Do you think if I give you a week's notice, you'll be able to go to Irwindale?

My best time there was 9.225. Hope I do quicker this time around (we'll see).

anywho, I'm pumped up about going to Cali Speedway.

Wally,

So the LACR trip for April is dead?

Honestly, LACR is a really fun track with the exception of the numbers.

Best thing about LACR is the number of times you can run.

it's still on

April 7th (Saturday morning) - Cali Speedway
April 12th (Thursday night) - Irwindale Speedway (maybe)
April 20th (Friday night) - LACR
April 26th (Thursday night) - Irwindale Speedway (maybe)

what a schedule right?

And the Irwindale dates will be determined once I know for sure once my next Thursday night exam will be.

I can do irwindale my best time there is 8.44. Post up when you guys decide to go I've been there a couple of times with Rookie.

The only thing I like about LACR is you get in alot runs, but you have alot of things against you to get good times. The elevation and track prep are the biggest, myself and Rookie were spinning our DRs' at LACR which never happens at CS or IS.

Cool - it will be great to have you there Derek... you can kick our @ss' on the 1/4 mile, then rub it in on the 1/8 mile!!!

So far the "feeler" in the Cerritos thread isn’t really going anywhere – Just Wally and me so far… Once WaLLy determines date he can make we can start a new thread.
