My untuned mildly modded revup makes peak power @ 6400 and only loses 4 hp from 6400 to 7000 RPM. I find myself shifting into peak torque if I shift the previous gear at around 7100 RPM's.

I need a helmet now!

1st run - 13.85 @ 101.45mph, 60ft @ 2.205
2nd run - 13.875 @ 102.07mph, 60ft @ 2.170

I only put in 2 runs, we ended up leaving at 2:15ish. And to get to the 3rd run, I'd have to wait until maybe 4? since the race before mine, a car spilled mostly likely his oil at the staging line, so they were only using 4 lanes.. sucks but yea, like Vlad said, I'll also buy two tickets next time I go.

And I'll probably get there at 6 this time. if we would of gotten there 15 minutes before we did, we'd probably would of gotten into group #1.

I want to see what Philip ran on his 2nd run!

WOW!!!! Great runs Wally! Did you use DR? Are you running the same way as yo did when we went to Irwidale last?

Quote: 14.2 - very nice Vlad! 2.1 60' at Fontana is extremely successful!!!

Did they have to multiple prep in the morning?... I didn’t read everything ion the above posts...
the track was great condition. first launch i did was 3000 rpm almost droping the clutch and the car took off very nice but i felt there i can get away with 4000rpm. I did that the next run still wasnt enough, NO wheel spin at all! That car's rpm went down for 0.5 second after the launch. So next run i held the rpms at 5000 but as soon as the light hits green i crapped out and let go of the gas a little bit so when i released the clutch rpms were in motion of going down. Thats how i got my crappy 2.3 60ft.

that is weird. When i asked Shawn what would it take to make power to all the way to redline, he said cams only. No matter what u do the car is going to have that little drop at the end.

this dyno is over 2 years old, but it was on his machine... looks like it was climbing past 6500... oh well, maybe it's not exactly accurate at the edge of the page?

The trq tanked (but this was before the 2nd TS ECU w/HFC)... I usually try to shift around 6700 but it still goes a couple hundred RPM before it actually shifts.

For autos shifting as late as u can is the best bet, that is because RPM drop compared to close ratio 6mt is significant when u shift to the next gear. No matter if u lose or make power up top ur best bet is to shift as late as u can. I see how autos would benefit from raising the rev limiter but as i found out yesterday and proved it by getting better trap speed, 6mts dont. Keep in mind im only talking about non revup engines, im not sure how the hp and tq goes for revups.

problem is when I wait as long as I can I hit the limiter... it seems the closer to redline my car gets the farther it goes after shifting... in other words if I try to shift at 6800-6900, I will hit the limiter for sure (set at 7100) this is why I kept hitting the rev limiter every race in Fontana when you and I were there.... if I shift at 6700 it only goes 1-2 hundred rpm more...

However with the 3.7 FD, I've actually noticed it shift sooner... not sure why but it does. So I have to find the right sport all over... I tried at Irwindale but was paying attention to several new things going on with the car... haven’t been on 1/4 with the near gears yet

Wow, congrats Wally. I'm assuming these times are with the G35 with street tires, right? The car has alot of potential.

Vlad and I were in the 300s group. If we would of gotten there a lil bit earlier, about 10 minutes or so, we would of made the 200ish.. oh well.. Philip (Jee35) arrived around 7 I think and he was in the 400s group.

Vlad and I arrived at 6:15ish, if I remember correctly.

yup, I took the M3. It's an '06 with 6k miles on it. Itching on buying some N/A parts for it, but this time, I think I'll just wait and once I have a good amount saved I'll shoot for FI. we'll see, but for now, I'm quite happy with it. I need a helmet or like the lady at the timeslips booth said, just slow down a tiny bit. lol

the cutoff for needing a helmet or not is 13.9, so I barely need it..

nope, my times are with the M3. Sorry for not mentioning it before. I thought I had said in the previous posts I was going to be taking the M.

the temps and track were pretty darn good (could of wished it was a lil cooler though), but not sure how the G would of done yesterday... It still needs new tires by the way lol I'll blame it on the tires for previous ****ty runs lol
