I'm going, Stephen, but on Sat. at 9am. Anyone else going Sat. morning? It better not rain. I've been looking forward to this for a long time.
For those that did not register, you should be able get in regardless. I did that for the Lexus event last year and might have to do it again this year since they have not let me register yet.

Im signed up. From what I've heard, the lines are rediculously long, and overall, everything is a PITA. Any truth to this?

I went to the event this morning and it was a blast. I got there early, around 8:45 before there was a lot of people. I recommend getting there early and go to the far tent where you can drive MX5's and RX8's. There were no lines so you could keep driving. The laps were not timed but they are the best cars to drive. I fell in love with the MX5! The RX8 was okay but the MX5 was just fantastic. It was so easy to drive and natural. They also let you drive extremely hard which was a lot of fun, especially after all the tires got worn out.
After a few hours, the lines got a little long but still not too bad. The longest wait was the the fast lap in the MazdaSpeed6 or a regular V6 sedan. It didn't help that idiots were frying clutches so there was fewer cars to drive. The biggest problem was the heat. The wait lines were all under tents but you were still standing in a parking lot with 100 degree heat.
The event was broken down to four tracks. Three were competitive and the other was just for fun with the mx5's and rx8's. You had two tries on the competitive courses and top scores got prizes. One of the competitive tracks was a simple beat a time with the 6 sedans. It was tough getting a good time on your 1st or 2nd time in a new car and unfamiliar track. I got within a little over a second which was fairly average. Another track had you trying to get close to selected cones in a CX7. You didn't have to go fast and it was the easiest event. I got the top score in that event on my 2nd try. The last event was trying to match a posted time in one of many different Mazdas. This was tough because it was extremely easy to beat the time so you had to drive slow, but not too slow. I went way too fast the first time and then too slow the 2nd.
They also had the new folding hardtop Miata. You couldn't drive it, though. The didn't have the CX9 or the Mazdaspeed3 which was a little disappointing.
