I'll wait to evacuate when they actually know for sure what the storm will actually do. All the hysteria is pretty ridiculous - people think it's the end of the world.

I also don't know if I will leave or not - I'm 70 miles inland.

What day will most of you wait to evacuate?
This morning they said on Good Morning America that the people at the Astrodome were being sent to another facility (forget where) because of Rita. I have to say that this must be just demoralizing for those that are being moved AGAIN. I feel so sorry for the kids in these situations - they really have little to no say in what happens to them and life just won't get back to some kind of "normal" for them.

BOB - are you still volunteering with the relief efforts?

I'm sure that's what all those other people that stayed behind in N.O. and the others states thought too.

I know...I read a news article about some employees at this one company in New Orleans just sitting around and eating breakfast the morning when it happened. They just didn't want to believe it was going to be as bad as it was. Better safe than sorry, I'm out...going to Seguin. Be safe everyone.

Let's not compare NO and Houston please. It's not even a close comparison.

quite true robb......in NO, they were not in that bad of shape after the hurricane, it was later when the levees gave way and widescale flooding began.....and NO is below sea level.

I am staying since flooding should not be a major issue where I live....I will however have to deal with the wind

is anyone else staying??

This thing is getting serious. The news hyped it early but it's now a cat. 5 and that's very bad news. I'm on the west side of Houston and think I will be alright but I do have 3 babies to consider. Losing power and water is my biggest worries. I'll wait until tomorrow until I decide and keep an eye on the news. Good luck to all you near the bay. Hopefully, this thing will hit south of here where it is not populated.

MY friends that live there have there cars already packed and ready to leave. They are waiting a little longer to see whats gonna happen. Remember you need to find a hotel if you do leave, most of them are booked already.

Im staying, I live in SugarLand. But yea everyone is going crazy. Im sure yall noticed that now you have to wait in line to get gas. Might as well fill up full tank. They said Rita might cause the gas price to jump as high as $5. http://money.cnn.com/2005/09/21/news...reat/index.htm

the freeways are parking lots - and thats one of the reasons why I doubt i'll leave.

they won't know for sure until tomorrow where this thing is going to make landfall. it sucks, and the stress of not knowing is worse than any thing else.
