Gosh that sucks! Sorry to hear Kurtis.

Did you have a laser detector? If so, I assume it didn't go off, which I wouldn't think a shocker of the century. The lack of a reliable advanced warning makes LIDAR a royal bitch to content with. I dread the day LIDARs are out in full force everywhere.

I have an Escort Passport 8500 X50. I think it has laser detection but not specifically LIDAR. Never uttered a peep. Even if it had gone off, I would have been toast due to the way he positioned himself at the bottom of that high, banked transition road.

Okay, just curious if you had a detector at all for shietz 'n gigglez. Your Passport 8500 does detect LIDAR, which is simply the technical term for the laser unit (not unlike RADAR is for the radio unit).

Yup, laser detector in itself is an oxymoron. The only way to fend off laser detection (by the cop) is active laser scrambling, which is illegal. Passive scrambling is legal, but that goes right back to how good the detection mechanism is, which we've already establish as bunk.

I like my laser detector for locating Infiniti FXs equipped with laser adaptive cruise control and Chevy Trailblasers with LED brake lights.

^^^ That is a passive laser jamming device. It needs to detect the laser before emitting distruptive signal in order to thwart law enforcement LIDAR operation. It is capable of working as advertised, BUT again it all depends on how reliable it can detect the LIDAR signal in the first place, which I've mentioned earlier as no better than a shot in the dark at times. Kurtis' no warning Passport vs. LIDAR skirmish being a perfect real world example of that.

Further more, the ZR3 is illegal in California. So there goes that idea anyways.

Same officer pulled me over said he got me at 88, in the same spot off of the 5 going onto the 133. It was hilarious watching him run around his car to pull me over; but it would have been funier if he pulled somebody else over. By the way how much was your ticket for?

Would you guys please post the exact google map location of this speed trap. I'm down in the Irvine are a lot and I would be unimpressed if I ever get LIDAR'd.

Just received the citation. No idea how much the bail is.

Watch out!
I saw the same CHP car out there at the exact same spot for 3 days in a row on my morning drive (around 7:45am). Everyone is usually speeding through there.
