Drive. It's a nice drive down to Redding at least. The section through the Siskyous in southern Oregon is really nice. Lots of bugs once you get close to Sacramento. Carry some glass cleaner - headlights and winshield collect a lot of bugs. Boring drive from Sacramento into LA. It can be done in 18 hours but take a break around Redding and drive on in to LA the next day.

when i drove up to SF in my G, i chipped my windshield and front bumper.. it wasnt worth it.
just my opinion.

I'd follow the earlier suggestions and protect ur front end. The 5 fwy has some stretches u could test ur top speed on.. but be careful.. drive safely!

One more question...

I have really dark tints on, do you think cops are gonna give me $hit? I mean my car's registered in WA, so CA tint laws shouldn't apply to me, right?

Law is law, and I can understand that for things like speeding. But this is tint. It's not something that you can fit to state laws as you go. It was done up in WA, so other states shouldn't give me $hit for it. Same goes with my front plates.

I'm gonna be leaving on August 3rd. I'll be spending the weekend in SF and then LA for the rest of the week. When are you goin?

Drive the G. The drive won't hurt your tires, like Glenn said the highway driving won't kill your tires. Back when I had my AWD Eclipse, My wife and I drove from Temecula, Ca. up to SLC Utah. Then over to Oregon by way of Idaho, then back on down to Temecula. My tires were fine. As far as rocks and chips, I've drivin' to Santa Barbara quite a few times as well as multiple trips to Las Vegas for business. I've not really had any problems with chips or anything but bugs. If you want, you could also take the 101 down to L.A., the drive is nice since you stay near the beach. This route takes you straight to L.A. as well. Good luck and drive safe.

Later,

Ray
