Yup...its pretty bad, heres the story:

I had a test pipe and the invidia G200 exhaust installed on my car. Having the test pipes is just asking to get pulled over. So friday night im at ontario mills I get pulled over and the cop just gives me a "loud exhaust" ticket. Then monday morning in city of industry on valley blvd on my way to work a cop follows me for a good 5 minutes then pulls me over and says that he can smell the fumes coming outta my car and that he knows i have no cats he then gets checks under my car and then writes me a ticket having my catalytic converters removed so I just put everything back to stock and need to get it checked by a state ref...

im pretty scared of what the fine will be when i go to court

That story definately didn't help me, as im going to install my resonated test pipes this week . I know the risks im taking, but the exhaust I am complementing it with isn't too loud to begin with. How loud is the G200?

Hope the fine isn't too bad. It seems as this is more than just a fix-it ticket.

The g200 isn't very loud at all. This is the exact reason I went with HFC's instead of test pipes. The difference in gains is minimal, IMO. Not enough to make me want to risk getting pulled over they way he did. Plus I can't stand the smell myself.

A $300 dollar difference is good enough for me

I hope the smell isn't too bad. But I guess I will find out. I'm not a crazy driver on most days; I keep the revs pretty low and the loudness of the exhaust is quite controllable. I just hope I don't end up with the same bad luck as SpeedNStyles

Hope the fine isn't too much for you.

unless the guy drives a vq, or knows his cars VERY well, then he won't notice the plenum spacer. if you've got a 5/16" spacer, then slap on that engine cover if you wanna be safe. but most infiniti mechanics don't even notice it's there.

as for the CAI, which one do you have? does it have a carb legal sticker on it? if not, then you're screwed. slap the stock intake back on.
