Official Info/sign up thread for Socal Double-Din Installation Day(s)

Hey Guys,

This thread will serve as the official information/sign up sheet for the “double-din days” I plan to hold down in so-cal. Please read this carefully.

reference this thread if you have no idea what i am talking about:
https://g35driver.com/forums/southern-california/212722-anyone-looking-g-double-din-installations.html

Date: Right now its not completely set yet, but the most likely date(s) is(are) Friday and Saturday, June 27 and 28th. one or two days is dependant on demand. We will have a date set in stone with in the coming week.

Location: Yorba Linda, CA.

Purpose: To help G35 So-cal guys install double din Hus into their vehicles. And no, I don’t actually enjoy doing G35 double dins one after another for two days straight

Cost (labor only unless otherwise noted)

Basic double double-din installation: Includes cost of antenna adapter and wiring harness. Price variation due to nav/non nav and other features that require additional labor (i.e. Avic Z2’s mic)

2003-2004: $150-175
2005+: $125-$150

Accessories installation:

IPod adapters: $25-$50 (Avic-D3 cable coming out of the upper cubby is free)

Bluetooth Adapters: $25-$50 (Avic-Z2 BT adapter is free)

Satellite Radio/traffic modules: $50

Steering wheel controls retention: $100 (this includes the cost of the
module, which needs to be purchased through me so I can pre-wire and program the module before hand)

pac TR7 for alpines $50 (for module and labor)

Stock navi voice retention: $100 (for those installing DVD double dins and want to keep the nav voice operating)

Backup Camera: $100-$125 (labor only) depending on sedan or coupe, we will NOT be doing drill-type bullet cameras, only good surface mounted units, similar to the pioneer backup cameras. We simply don’t have the time to do any custom mounting configurations with drill-type of cameras.

Added: Ipod adapter install on stock headunits, assuming you will be using a standard plug and play kit.

if cable comes out of stock upper cubby (non nav) $50

if cable comes out of upper glovebox (non nav) or center armrest area: $75

Before signing up:

What you will need to bring:

1. Your car
2. Double-Din Finisher and ac controller (www.grubbsperformance.com is one of the sources to get them), you do NOT need the bracket. We will NOT be doing dual buttons, so if you must have the dual button, I suggest you pick up the version pre-loaded with the dual button in place.
3. Any accessories you plan to add, except steering wheel controls adapter, that I require you to purchase through me so I can pre-wire and program.
4. A book to read? Or a friend to drive you somewhere, please don’t constantly look over our shoulders

What I will be providing:

1. Antenna adapter and wiring harness
2. Steering wheel controls adapters
3. Any other relevant wiring, screws etc etc
4. Labor
5. You can also purchase fully authorized pioneer equipment through me if you wish, it will come with full warranty, but pricing won’t be like Ebay.

How to Sign up:

If you are serious about getting it done, reply to this thread with the following information:

1. The year of your G35, Bose or non-Bose, stock nav or non nav. Sedan or coupe…
2. What are you having installed: list model numbers and all the accessories you plan to have installed
3. If you already have some other piece of aftermarket audio related gear installed, please tell me.

What happens from here:

Basically, within the two day time frame, depending on how many accessories people choose to have, I figure we would be able to do a total of 6-8 cars maximum. What I will do is, treat each person who sign up uniquely, and will PM each of you with a total cost. I will also estimate the time it should take for each vehicle and start a tally. Once I see that the total time required has come close to about 16hours (2 days), I will cut it off at that point. It could be as few as four cars, if all of them decided to install tons of accessories, or it could be up to 8 or so straight forward double din installs.

Once you are confirmed on the list, I will need to take a deposit from you of $100, with the rest due upon completion of the install. Each of you will also receive an invoice for your records.

Any questions, please PM me, I would like to keep the thread relatively clear if possible. thank you!

tracing engine noise is one of the most unpredictable things in car audio, it could take as little as 5 mins, it could take as long as a day, i would hate for you to come and then we have no time to properly diagnose what the issue is i may also not be the best person for that, as in the 70 or so Gs and Zs i have done, i have had ZERO alternator noise issues to date.

if it just started happening to you, what have you cahnged recently? it could be a variety of things, from headunit/amp going bad, to a ground working loose or a cut or shorting rca cable/rca end

I'm thinking something came loose. I hit a really bad bump and was like "FVCK!"

I know what a bitch it is, that's why I don't want to do it. For now, I'm living with it because it isn't bad, but I know it's there which is what pisses me off.

Typically I listen to my stereo pretty loud so I rarely ever hear it

if its osmething loose, it couldbe a loose ground or rca, if you want, you can come down and if we have osme time, we can check it out

im2slpy: i will send you a PM in a day or two.

klumzyee: do you have a link to the camera? relocating the factory sat antenna may not have the time for nor may it reach. are you saying you also want to get a unit from me? and for htis unit, do you want just DVD ability or also another nav headunit? I have a friend who is selling a since discontinued (sadly) pioneer 6800 6 disc dvd in dash changer headunit, it looks just like the Z2, but its a 6 disc in dash changer, a pretty nice unit. that may work for you.

dual buttons i just dont do, i am not that good of a soderer, and if i screw up, its two units costing both over 200 bucks ruined. sorry... butlike i said, i think japanparts sells a version that already has the dual button in it, i think its a little bit more cash.

I want DVD (something with a ok-pretty good screen), CD/MP3 Option with a good Display like a good background type of thing going on while the CD is playing, and iPOD.. My SAT antenna is just sitting in the trunk right now lol if you or if you dont have time then its all good..

Let me know =)
