It's not all it's cracked up to be, IMO.

If you have the plate only, the cop is likely to know it's a fake and going to be more ticked off about it.

I have one on my G. Best mod ever, but kind of expensive.

I had a CHP bike chase me down on the I-15S once. I wasn't even speeding. He followed me once I made my exit and he sat right behind me. I thought I was doomed cuz I know he could smell my car. He proceded to follow me through 2 lights and he was very close. Then all of a sudden, he bails on me and leaves.

The one in your pic is an old one. New ones don't say CHP on them anymore.

The only thing it really does at best is cause a CHP officer to be a little more lenint with you. It is not a free speeding pass or get out of jail free card. The cop can't ask you to see any proof of membership either. They can get in trouble from the 11-99 foundation board of directors. You are not supposed to try to use it as leverage either. I know some people will carry the ID with them in their car, but others will put it in a frame with the cert.

Getting is 11-99 frame is extremely hard. I read contributions have to be in the thousands or gifts such as timeshares have to be in prime locations. Cops are likely to question people with frames because they know you have it in hopes of getting out of a ticket, which is in most cases.

IMO...11-99 foundation frames are as common as other LE plate holders, which I won't tell you how to recognize.

I think the new minimum donation is like $1,800.00

Oh, and BTW. It goes to a very worth cause. Money collected by the foundation goes to the family of CHP officers who have fallen in the line of duty. They family gets a very large amount. Just an FYI for ya. It's not all about the lic plate.

I use to work at DC Motors in Anaheim and we would get a bunch of cars with the 11-99 frames (from an auction or trade ins). They must have at least 3 dozen 11-99 frames sitting in the shop. They usually came off of Lambos or Ferraris.

A friend of mine is a member and he had an extra frame so he gave it to my brother. It has really come in handy on our yearly road trips from San Francisco to Las Vegas for SEMA.

There have been a few times that he has been pulled over doing 85+ and was let go.
