Should I upgrade now?
Should I upgrade now?
Hey SoCal Gs, I haven't been around here in a while. I have a 2003 G35 Coupe auto DG/B. Looks like my old pics on here are gone. My mods are 19" gunmetal volk sf winnings, ps2 slim in the glove compartment hooked up to nav screen, momo shift ****, aluminum pedals, pop charger/z-tube, tint.
It still drives well. I haven't had any problems with it. It looks brand new after a detailing. I'd like to keep it until the end of next year and then move up to a G37. But I've got some big expenses coming up that are making me consider the possibility of making the change now. In the next couple months, I am going to need new tires (I use Falken 452s), new brakes and my 60k service. I estimate these expenses at $3k.
So do you guys think I should look into getting a G37 before paying out this $3k or should I do the work and keep the car another year and a half? All input is appreciated.

I'd suggest you to get rid of it now if your car is completely paid off, and go get yourself a nice G37S.
IMO, selling the car @ a price with that 3K, you can make a nice and big down payment which will bring the monthly down pretty nicely. Also, if you wait til the end of the year, your car's value will also drop although not by much.
Just a few little things that "might" save you a few bux.
Good luck.

If your car's paid off, I would just cough up the $3k (or however much it's gonna take) to get your car good again.
One-time payment of $3k > years of monthly payments IMHO

I do have 7k left in payments but have the money to pay it off at any time and probably will this month. If you consider the 3k in work plus let's say 4k the car would drop in value in a year and a half, I think that 7k would nearly pay for having the G37 during that time.
You probably wouldn't want my rims. They've accumulated some wear over the years. Still look good from a distance. I think there's curb rashes on three of the four rims. The cost of getting them repaired to look good as new would be nearly their value at this point.

If you do want to upgrade, I can help you out.
The biggest return on your money would be to keep your car, keep making payments, and drive it until it has 500k miles on it and the repair cost is higher than the vehicle's value.
On the other hand, promotional fiancing on the G37 may make it more appealing to you.

I'd keep the G35 man. I like the way the G35 looks better than the 37.
Let's say you get about $18k for your car and you toss in that $3k also, that's $21k, but you'd still have to pay the remainder of the G37 off. I'd rather have no payments at all. That's just me though.
If it's gonna be paid off soon, why don't you just see about going FI or SC?

Is the G37 really an upgrade....?

engine but to me the design isn't better than the G35. Save your money,
in three years you'll have enough for a GT-R....now there's an upgrade!
