Cali Speeding Ticket Advice
Here's a couple things you can do. You can plead guilty and although you took traffic school 8 - 9 months ago, you can take it again. It will still help with insurance, but it is at the discretion of the judge whether or not they will allow you to take it. You can also ask if you can do community service so the fine isn't as much. I recommend doing work at a community center or park. I used to work at one and my boss was in charge of the program for volunteers and anyone who had to do community service and although he made them work, it wasn't difficult stuff and most of the time he would sign off a couple hours. Not sure what city you're in, but if it's in Pasadena, PM me and I can talk to my previous boss about you doing the community service there.
You need a miracle on this one man!!!
Here is another idea...
Find the court date on the bottom of the ticket, call the county court house and ask to speak to that officer, if he is not in, hopefully they will tell you when he'll be in or if he is out on vacation... The miracle here is that you are hoping that your court date are the same as the time he's leaving on vacation. Plead NOT guilt ofcourse and watch the judge let you off the hook. It works!!! sometime.
..good luck!!

Well its been a while since i last posted on this forum, but i wanted to give an update.
What ended up happening is that i got my case dismissed. Now there were a few factors that helped me.
1. the time to court date
2. the cop was a city cop
upon receiving my ticket in the mail, it was x number of days after i got my ticket, the arraignment was scheduled for 45 days since my ticket. so the first thing i did was request an extension on the ticket. that pushed my arraignment to 90 days from my ticket issuance.
at this point in time you can ask for discovery or something if you want to make an argument for speed trap or something, but i didnt do that.
once arraignment came, i pleaded not guilty to the clerk, and was sent to a courtroom the same following day. At arraignment they basically read you your rights and ask if you understand the court proceedure. basically they would call you up, read what your offense is and then ask what you plead. i again pleaded not guilty. at this point in time he schedules the court date. in my case he attempted to schedule 30 days after, but i want to keep it within a 45 days timeframe so i can argue for speedy trial if the court date gets delayed, but i cant use that argument if i set a court date that is beyond the 45 day timeframe.
so now i have a court day that is approximately a lil less than 135 days since my first ticket issuance.
i showed up in court that day, and he didnt show, so i got dismissed.

Well done on working the system. Just know that you still have endangered yourself and others. 70 in a 40 is just plain stupid.... there is no way in hell you can brake in time if something unexpected were to happen.
