Concours Finished: 2008 Black G37. 3 months old, lots of swirls

Here is a detail I did for a fellow forum member this weekend. I was told it was only 3 months old so I had hoped maybe I could do a 1-step polish even though it was black. Boy was I wrong. This needed a a complete multistage paint correction to remove the paint defects: mainly swirls and hard water spots. I have a love/hate relationship with black cars. They are the hardest to maintain but when properly detailed, they look the best IMO.

My Process:

Wash
Pressure wash to remove initial layer of dust/dirt
2 Bucket Wash /w Gritguards/lambswool mitt/Prima Mystique Car Soap
No clay required, paint was smooth

Wheels
Meguiars Wheel Brightener 4:1
Meguiars APC+ 4:1 on tires/wheel wells

Paint Correction
Prima Swirl on White LC pad @ 1700 rpm
Prima Swirl on Orange lC pad @ speed 5 /w PC
Prima Swirl on White LC pad @ speed 5 /w PC
Prima Amigo on White LC Pad @ speed 5 /w PC

Interior

Meguiars Hyper Dressing
303 Aerospace protectant
Prima Nero

LSP
Prima Epic

Here are the Before Photos

Trunk Lid Before

It was actually much worse in person

Almost prepped for the test spot.

50/50 shot of trunk lid.

Another 50/50 shot.

50/50 of bumper. Condition wasn't as bad as the trunk.

Driver-side fender before

Another before of Driver-side front fender before.

And after

Before of rear quarter panel.

Another Before Close-up. Can you believe it was only 3 months old? That's black for you.

50/50

Can you tell I like 50/50 shots??

And now onto the afters

Thanks For Looking
