Loud exhaust w/ turbo? Turbos are the best mufflers out there ... I have test pipes on my TT and it's quieter than NA with HFC. Are you sure you don't have a leak?

there aren't many turboed g35's in socal on the forum. More than likely with all of the pluming for a tt kit a cop won't know what he's looking at, and with a vortech, just point him to the carb sticker. For a single turbo, you'll be in trouble for sure. What some have done is they have taken their carb sticker from their cold air intakes and placed it on the turbo piping. This may constitute fraud, but is a clever move none-the-less.

Your safest bet is always to drive in a manner to avoid police suspicion during normal every day driving, and to be picky about when you decide to push it, especially now that the police are really cracking down on motorists (due to this damn depression).

Course they can impound your car, but that's rather unlikely, as they STILL have to get a warrant to look under your hood, even if the car is impounded.

MOral of the story is don't do anything stupid to get pulled over to begin with.
FALSE. In most circumstances all they need is reasonable suspicion. It's called the "automobile exception". Having a modified car on its face more than likely gives the police reasonable suspicion.

I don't see how its legal for a cop to, lets say, pull you over for running a stop sign, notices you have wheels and a drop, and asks you to pop your hood because your car looks modified.

get black intercoolers for the stealth look.. just loose a bit of HP tho. but they look coo.. IMO..

wish cali wasnt so strick with it... but on the lighter note.. my 1970 mustang with direct pipes and no mufflers just some glass pipes is super cool with cops.. they even give me compliments on my exhaust.. lol.. funny isnt tit.. only reason i was ever asked to pop the hood was so the guy could get some ideas for his project car.. lmao... i was like wtf.. if it was my G.. ticket for exhaust.. tint.. and intake.. lol..

So what do you T/TT guys do every 2 years on your smog checks? Yank everything out then put it all back in? Seems pointless on trying to hide it from the cops if every 2 years you have to yank it all out. I brought my G from cali to MD (not really my choice) I got the TT installed here but looks like theres no way it's gonna fly with cali emissions. Might as well get a G8 or some **** once I move back. LOL Luckily I'm out here at least a few more years to enjoy the TT.

According to some officers I know, they can't make you pop your hood, but if they ask you to ... you better do it. It's all in your attitude.

If you do not open the hood for them, they will first detain you. Then they will either get the warrant (which they can do very quickly) or more likely impound your car even if it is stock. Their philosophy is they still get paid, but you have a major headache on your hands clearing everything up, even if you are bone stock.
