Is it ok to drive with original tinted windows?

Hey guys. I purchased an used 05 Coupe G 2 months ago from Mitsubishi dealer, and the windows were already tinted. The dealer also listed the tinted windows as an extra option to the car. And i dont even know how many % is the tint. Is it ok to drive the car with the windows tinted before i buy the car? Let's say i get a ticket for tinted windows, can i just say it was like that before, or something like that as an explanation to those f***king cops? And if the tinted windows is allowed, if so, how many % is the tint i can have?

And Im in Socal, OC.

Thanks everyone.

PICS ADDED ON PAGE 2.

^ if that was the case, none of us would ever get tickets for aftermarket mods/tints on our cars.

its illegal in cali to tint your front windows (meaning the windows on your driver and passenger doors). the rear windows can be tinted as dark as you like.

the dealer was supposed to remove the tint before delivering the car to you. i'd take the car back and have them remove it.

Thanks Bigc. But the thing is i want to keep the tint. That's why i posted this thread to ask you guys, is it ok to drive with tinted windows that have been installed either by the dealer or previous owner. Meaning that i'm not the one who've done it. And i also have proof to show to the cops in case.

What a shady dealer. I highly doubt they even put the tint on themselves...and they charged you for it? That's like them getting a trade in with a complete system and reselling the car to a buyer with an added premium for an "upgraded sound system".

Eff that.

no problem, and for the record i've tinted my windows too. its unlikely you'll be ticketed, just go into this knowing its a possibility and that you have no real excuse for it.

Unfortunately it isn't legal to drive with front tints, regardless if it came factory installed. Keep in mind that the dealer is just trying to make a sale. Once that car is off their lot, it's your responsibility. Cops can pop you for all sorts of vehicle code violations once that car is off the lot.

well...i say ILLEGAL 100%

be ready to get harrassed...eventhough alot of cars in cali specially in socal are tinted.
luxury cars n all...just depends on the cop

u dont want attention, take it off...or go lighter.
if u got mods, lowered, exhaust, rims. etc..then be careful...

if its stock n simple, i doubt it...

The 5-0 has spoken, remove it or you can be ticketed.
