Renewed last week - $328
Purchased 12/05

Since the fee is based upon value, I wonder if those with fully-loaded models pay more than those with base models in subesequent years after purchase.

interestingly, the current issue of Westways (the AAA mag) has a section regarding 2009 law changes... one of them is the VLF (vehicle license fee) rate hike that went into effect 5/19/09 - it raised the rate from 0.65 to 1.15% of assessed value of vehicle.

So as stated its based on vehicles presumed value. And its totally against what Gov Terminator said he would do when he took office

The current rape, ooops, I mean rate stays until 7/1/2013 unless extended or made permanent.

I'm wondering how some people are paying so cheap??? In some cases less than $200 when most of us are paying more than $300?

Is it possible that since its based on assessed value that a used car can be registered cheaper since the last sale price is so much less? If they are basing my fee on my original purchase price minus any depreciation - and base a used car's fee on it's last purchase price -that means some people are paying way less for the exact same car

I should sell the car to myself for $5K in order to pay the lower fee - just to stick it to the ***** up legislation that raised the rates.
