350Z deadly crash in LA ??
Just saw on channel 2 news this morning. It looks like a 350Z. News reported the driver was going over 100 mph on some side street in LA. The car was torn apart in two pieces . News said it might have been street racing, a BMW that was involved in the accident sped away according to the news.

Just another reason, and a big one, why one has to take it to the track for the thrills. It is readily available, it is affordable, and it is far safer. Senseless, stupid tragedy. This is the type of Darwinism that can be avoided.

Actually even on track it's not that safe, and insurance won't cover for accidents. I witnessed a WRX crashing into wall on the track and it was not pretty. These days I just get my thrills from moderate speed touge runs, Speed Zone, and big empty parking lots in the rain.

Newspaper had disclosed names of the driver and passenger. The pedestrians name was not released because he was a homeless person.
"Police identified the driver of the vehicle as Jeff Cherubin, 22, of Claremont. Marvin Washington, 21, of Walnut was the passenger, police said. The name of the 51-year-old pedestrian was not released pending notification of family."

Sukairain:
You are absolutely correct. If you are stupid on the track you will wind up just as dead. No lesser an authority than Forrest Gump may be quoted here: "Stupid is as stupid does." There is nothing more stupid than street racing, other than dropping your privates into a cuisinart perhaps. Hopefully fewer bystanders will be taken with you when you lose it at the track.
Is the WRX you refer to the blue one that augured in at Buttonwillow earlier this Spring, spinning out of turn 1 on the CCW layout #13? That was quite a fire, and the Subie was toast, but the driver was unhurt...shaken, but not hurt.

Eagle, I agree with you completely, street racing is a way Darwinism eliminates dumb people, unfortunately innocent people get hurt in the process. I've never understood the purpose of drag racing much less street racing. I've been on the track and honestly I think there should be a system in offering track insurance in case something goes wrong. It's a great irony that people alway tell you to take it out on a track if you want to race, yet insurance companies would likely drop you from the policy if they find out you ever race your car.
the WRX crash I saw was back East.

Re: 350Z deadly crash in LA ??
You raise an interesting point about race insurance. I have never looked into it, always just prefering to bear the cost out of pocket if I bend or break it.
And another reason, candidly, is that it would call up close scrutiny of the mods I have made, and that is something I am not presently interested in doing.
But, what if there was a way to get a coverage that was with a different company than your primary insurer? Don't know if that is possible, but if so, it would address some of the concerns. I doubt it would be cheap though.
