Dec 17 - Track Event - California Speedway + JGTC!!!

Re: Dec 17 - Track Event - California Speedway + JGTC!!!
That is an excellent division, and should encourage the newcomers to get on out there. They can run with some comfort that they are not holding people up. And remember, this is a pretty big track, so there should be plenty of spacing between cars.
When I went out there, the intermediate class was freaking fast, at least it seemed that way to me. They were doing lap times on average at least ten seconds per lap faster than the novice group. That makes for closure rates that are uncomfortable, whether you are passing, or being passed. The red group had all those little Radical hybrids running in it, and that was truly nuts for speed, with average lap times another ten seconds lower than intermediate. When you consider that the fastest guys are running better than ten seconds faster than the average in any given group....you get the idea.
Breaking this into four classes makes a lot of sense, especially since this is a challenging test. Really looking forward to it.

What's up guys I don't have a G35 coupe but have always wanted one since its introduction. I've been an extremely long time lurker though. I got lucky with fortunes and ended up with a 2004 M3, but I wanna tag along with you guys
Is that cool?? I want a timer toooooo.

Re: Dec 17 - Track Event - California Speedway + J
Hey Howdy,
We'd love to have you with us. It is however out of my hand ... at least for now. In order to be fair to the many other drivers who pay full admission to enter, I was asked to not abuse the previledge. Speed Ventures was very adamant about me sticking to the G35/350Z agreetment. You could say this is an unofficial G35/350Z Challenge Series, which automatically qualifies for 'Free Timing' discount.
But by all means, don't let that stop you from tracking with us
If I have 10 or more car in this list (not including myself), I'm sure they wouldn't mind me squeeze in an odd-ball or two.
Thanks for your understanding.

Re: Dec 17 - Track Event - California Speedway + J
I understand THX it's all good. So the $310 fee is for each person correct? And this fee only applies to you G35/350Z people? This would be the first time i've tracked a car and I really want to do it since this car belongs on the track. If I can't tag along...where is some information for the "regular" people? Thanks.

Re: Dec 17 - Track Event - California Speedway + J
Howdy,
Good news ... for you![Smilie](https://g35driver.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I got a respsonse from Speed Ventures. Because this will have been your very first time with Speed Ventures, they will allow you the same discount this time.
And yes, it's $310 ... but don't forget the mandatory 'instructor fee' that is required for all first-time trackers. Add timing transponder as well, but you will not be charged for it. FYI ... not all track are this expensive to operate. California Speedway is what I called a tier-1 track and therefore the higher cost. Buttonwillow and Willowsprings on the other hand is typcially 1/2 the cost. Neither of them will offer the banked oval experience of California Speedway, however.
So, go ahead and sign up and be sure to add the following comment at the end,
"I'm with Clint's G35/350Z group ... please apply my FREE timing"
BTW ... I luv E46s!!! They are fromidable on and off the track. See you there![Smilie](https://g35driver.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Cheers,
Clint

Re: Dec 17 - Track Event - California Speedway + J
No worries Howdy. There is no pressure into this. Do it only when you're ready.
I will tell you what I told many people in the past ... that is there is no deadline to register. However, it is on a first come first served bases per run group, so there's always the possibility of selling out. Registration has been open for nearly a month now. I also cannot guarantee the timing device even if you manage to register in time and secure a run spot. There are only so many timing transponders available to ALL 4 run groups for rent (or free in our case). Once they have all been spoken for ... that is it.
Hope to see you there,
Clint (THX723)

Re: Dec 17 - Track Event - California Speedway + J
My friend and I were thinking of driving down from the Nor Cal for the JGTC event, but now I think we are both more interested with this track day included. He has a sedan. I'll talk to him and see! This would be our first track days.....anyone know how much the 'instructor fee' is going to be?
