Dec 17 - Track Event - California Speedway + JGTC!!!

Just coming off of the Buttonwillow ... some of us are still itching for more Ed (Eagle1) and I are planning on finishing the year off at California Speedway. The temptation is just too great, because it is litterally in our back yard in Fontana.

The event date is Dec. 17, which is on a Friday, so please plan ahead.

This is a tier-1 track and therefore the cost is much steeper ($310) for the entire day. Expect A LOT of track time for this outting! I should be able to get FREE timing rental for everyone once again.

As a bonus ...
this event is on the eve of the JGTC event to be held at the same track for the weekend. The JGTC teams will be out setting up their racers. Many will even be open to questions and answers. Don't forget to bring your camera and snap your favorite all race version of the Nissan Skyline, 350Z, Honda NSX, etc. This is a very special event ... don't miss it!!!

For more info ... go to www.jgtcusa.net

Here's the track map:

If you are interested ... please add your name in the list:

1. Clint (THX723)
2. Ed (Eagle1)
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.

As usual ... you are more than welcome to come as a spectator.

Danny (Buddha),
No worries ... books are more important. What time is your final? You should swing by and scope out the track afterwards if time permitts. I'll take you around for a few laps, which I'm sure will be theraputic after a final

Bo,
Good to see you in the list. I beleive you had an incredible outting at Cali Spdway last time? It will only be better this time around ... if not for the JGTC's presence.

Damn, wish I could make this one but the funds are a bit tight after buying a new home. Hopefully I'll be able to make it to the next one sometime next year. You guys have a blast. Track looks great with the long oval!

Don't sweat it Darren. We'll be heading your way in early Feburary for Laguna Seca. That one's not to be missed.

Re: Dec 17 - Track Event - California Speedway + JGTC!!!

Yea i went to see Ed race last time at Cal Speedway.

He took my friends on a 2 lap run. They came back with their ***** coming out thier mouths. This is a real scary track. Speed get to be very fast.

I saw some nice cars when i went last time to see Ed. There was an Evo 8 that was tearing it up. I even got to see a left hand drive Skyline GT-R never thought they made those.

Man on top of it JGTC is going to be there, How crazy is that. Im probably going to stop by, depending on how school goes.

Re: Dec 17 - Track Event - California Speedway + JGTC!!!

It is a really fun track lads and ladies, and first class all the way.
Rashman's two friends had a good time in the right seat, and while I cannot attest as to the precise location of their private parts as he does, since they would probably not admit such to me, there were distinct lateral crinkles in the seat cushions for cheek-clench. Something about taking turn 1 at 125mph+ does that when you are in the right seat....and the wall is out side your window. It probably did not help when they squirm and I shout ..."What's the matter comrade...are you afraid to die?????"
Seriously, now. It is a very fine track, and a challenging one to drive, and in my view nowhere near as difficult with respect to damaging your car as Sears Point. Most of the racing is through the very large infield (it could swallow all of Buttonwillow, so you are not sacrificing big time layout or conditions whatsoever), and the wall along the front straight is not really an issue, especially since the track is extremely wide there. The banked oval portion is even wider, and you stay well down grade so not a problem. There are a few stacks of tires here and there that get interesting, but you just back off if they bother you. Otherwise, truly, it is not intimidating. Just drive within your limits, like always, and treat your equipment well, and you will be fine. There are instructors available, and you will learn lots and lots on this course.
Bo made it his inaugural experience and by the end of the day he was turning some truly impressive lap times, a real success. Save your nickels and find a way to come, you will not regret the experience.

Re: Dec 17 - Track Event - California Speedway + JGTC!!!

THX,

I won't be able to make it to this one. I need to save $$$ to put into better brakes. OEM brake fade left an unpleasant impression on me the last time. Unfortunatly, biger brakes also requires different wheels. So it all adds up to a hefty bill. That's not even getting into the sways, springs and shocks....
I wouldn't mind charging it, but I have a beautiful wife and baby daughter to prioritize.

Hope you all have fun and a safe time at the track! =D

Re: Dec 17 - Track Event - California Speedway + JGTC!!!

Not a problem Tony.

Also don't forget simply upgrading brake pads is most likely enough to get you by for the time being. Big brake kits are not cheap and could come much later as your skills improve.

Boy that sure was funny to see Lori's car all covered in tape like that! =P When I first saw her car on the freeway I thought it was a funky blue and silver Porche.

How many rolls of tape did she say she used? 4 or 5? That was cool.
