Aftermath:laguna Seca 01.20.2006
Folks,
I'm looking through the 2006 Speedventures calendar ... and I'm having a hard time coming up with a good plan for all of us.
California Speedway ROVAL event on July 21 is a definte yes yes yes.
So, mark down your calendar now and plan ahead - it is once again on a Friday (better get use to Mr. Friday, because you're gonna be seeing him a lot in this gig.
).
That leaves us with a gaping hole in between now and July. I would love to squeeze one more race in there, but none of them works well w. the exception of Buttonwillow. Reno-Fernly, Spring Mountain, LVM Speedway are all very excellent tracks, but just too dang far (!!!). You see, I'm trying to make this as work and budget friendly for everyone as possible.
Buttonwillow in less than a month (Feb 25) is the best candidate, but it's a bit too soon imho. In addition it is a very technical track that owns drivers (mentally and physically). I think you'll all enjoy and appreciate Buttonwillow a lot more after another one or two track events. Lastly, I won't be around that weekend either - got another snowboarding gig up in Tahoe
.
California (non-ROVAL) in April is another option. However I just don't think it's a very good deal for the money you pay for. At $290, you're cheating yourself out of not running part of the oval section. I'm also not too fond of the layout. It reminds me too much of the Mary-go-around Streets of Willow - gives me a head ache. In many ways, I have spoiled you guys with Laguna Seca, which is high on the satisfaction chart due to long WOT segaments. As I've said, in many respects Seca is a damn easy track to navigate around! Cali ROVAL gets you that WOT feeling, the non-ROVAL version doesn't.
... just thinking out loud. What do you guys think?

Special guest huh? Would this be a friend, or at best an aquaintance or just some you know?
Maybe someone with a silver helmet? I know you really liked him. Come on, more clues would be nicer than pure speculation. I mean, my mind can run wild with just speculation.

We better watch out, though.
Seriously.
Incredible Hulk might get mad.
Floating? With flailing arms and bouncing, it'd be more like flying! Yes, my mind would be flying all over the place. As a matter of fact.....,, Oh! nevermind.

Clint, how come you don't like Streets of Willow? Too short? Not enough straights? Too boring for ya? I was going to suggest the May 13th, 14th weekend there since it's relatively cheap and a safe track. Otherwise I'm thinking Thunderhill in April but I'm sure you guys don't want to go that far.
I am going to the Roval on March 11 & 12 with NASA. $275 for both days, not bad at all. Will have to deal with a lot of traffic compare to Speed Venture events, but still pretty good for the price.

That ain't a bad deal at all! We'll have to look into that one. Although, it's tough for me to not have the close relationship I have w. the Speedventures folks (aka slacks
).Darren,
I'll answer your question in a bit.
