The oem rear spring is not progressive as seen in the product photo below. No coil bind to effect rate change, no coil diameter change and I have yet to see anyone go to the expence if using different wire diameter's.
When you look at wheel rate between a 280lbs truecoilover spring and a 616lbs rear spring in the oem location the actual rates seen at the wheels are actually pretty close
280lbs truecoilover rear wheel rate since the damper/spring mounts directly to the hub =280lbs
616lbs rear spring in the oem location wheel rate =259lbs.
Only a 21lbs spread between the two.

nice write up and pics...good info. Stance simply calls them the progressive rates...so we do too to differentiate the two.
