Actually there is a voluntary fuel recall for the FILLER HOSE, outlined in the following recall notice below;

http://infinitihelp.com/Ownership/Bu.../ITB06-006.htm

This effects vehicles with the following VINs:
G35 Coupe: JNKCV51E*3M200022 – 226707, JNKCV51E*4M300013 – 310126
G35 Sedan: JNKCV51E*3M000014 – 336214, JNKCV51E*4M100021 - 114488

I have a 2003 MT coupe. My gas tank always filled up full with no problem. Then on Nov. 29, 2006, I had the filler hose recall work done. Since then, I have tried to fill up at 3 different stations and the pump clicked out way too early (about 3/4 mark) at all of them. I did manage to get them full (I think?) by pulling the nozzle almost all of the way out and barely squeezing the pump handle, trickling in the gas. At one of the 3 stations I even overfilled, spilling out some gas, using this method. The biggest pain is standing there with a flashlight for 5+ minutes trying to get it full.

I think I will have to contact the dealer about this. Hopefully they can fix it in one attempt since I live 60 miles from the dealer. Has anyone else experienced this problem after having the filler hose recall done?

Also, can anyone verify where the splash-back valve is located? Is it in one of the hoses that are replaced during the recall work? Or, is there anything in the procedure that can affect the proper operation of the valve?

Thanks,
medoug.

I have a quick question, I have had this happen only once where I was pumping the gas and the pump kept cutting off half way through and would not continue to pump enless I used the method Medoug stated.
again this only happened once so my question is do I need this done, does it even apply to my car a 2005 ?

The biggest worry you will have is if someone decides to take it for a joy ride I would stay at the dealer while they perform your recall.
Got a question for you guys on this...I got the recall done and since then I've had my VDC,BRAKE light and SLIP light all turn solid and only turning off the car will get rid of them. Is there a possibility they screwed aroun with something when they dropped the rear end due to the lines being replace? Also, now my fuel gauge won't go all the way up....which I already know the answer to.

Anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Thanks,
JD

Hey, JD and DA G Ride,

Did the fuel gage stop working properly only after the recall work was done? I'm just curious, because that's what has happened to me.

Also, I noticed that they failed to re-install both rear plastic covers which complete the back of the rear wheel wells. I KNOW they were there when I put my winter tires on in November.

Also, when I looked under the car I found a nut resting between a couple of small hoses. It really makes me wonder what else they forgot to reattach. I guess I'll be giving the dealership a call. It really s*cks that I'll have to travel 60 miles each way to have something fixed that was originally O.K. until they screwed it up.

Well I had the problem before but it had been working perfectly prior to then; it's just too much coincidence. Don't you just love how the dealer always claism to be right although the techs screw things up.

i know the fuel filler hose recall is not the same as the "not being able to fill the gas tank" problem. but i too have the problem of not being able to fill my gas tank all the way AFTER getting the recall done for the fuel filler hose. i had no problems filling before.... just an amazing coincidence?

and i know its not my gauge.... i will be on empty (i know, not good to run the tank down that low) but only be able to fill 13 gallons into my gas tank. i try to click the pump a couple more times... but the most i get is 13.5 gallons, a little gas spillage (i HATE that), AND the fuel gauge shows only 3/4 full! traded a potential future problem for an immediate problem with filling the car up with gas.
