If 1 out of 10 are defective:
Odds of 3 defects in a row = (1/10)(1/10)(1/10) = 1/1000
If 1 out of 50 are defective:
Odds of 3 defects in a row = (1/50)(1/50)(1/50) = 1/125,000
If 1 out of 100 are defective:
Odds of 3 defects in a row = (1/100)(1/100)(1/100) = 1/1,000,000
I would use that^^^ logic to argue for a new torque converter.

You may be the perfect case to prove my theory that there's another defect causing or contributing to this problem. I would take it back in and see if they're willing to replace the torque converter. Given how annoying the symptoms are (the jolts that could throw a midget out the window), this thread would be a lot longer if the problem was hideously widespread. So it's safe to assume that the part or parts involved have some defect rate. If the VB is truly the cause, what are the odds that you'd get three defective units in a row? Just for the hell of it...

Ever since moving to Japan my shudder has really surfaced it's ugly head. Before, when I was in San Diego, I would only notice it on North Island because the speed limit was 35 and it would surface once I would hit a small bump. Now I drive up hill everyday and it is freaking crazy there. I drive with the car in Manumatic at all times now. I'm looking to replace the transmission with a 6MT since I know I can't get this fixed under warranty in Japan.
According to our manual our warranties are dead once shipped out of the country
Even though I shipped it back to where it was made, lol

Since my last post in this thread, i've bought an '07 G35x
I love the car, but it has the 5AT shudder
When i asked the dealer, they said that the TSB had been applied, and there's nothing further thay can do. Infiniti needs to get off their @$$ & find a solution to what seems to be a common problem!
