well not if the warranty includes powertrain, and they stick behind it, which is the hard part.

Shoot. I'm in the market for a 05-07 in the 80-100k mile range. Now I'm reconsidering. I'm not going to put more oil in my car every week

Just wait one more month until I find out if my last attempt to cut down oil consumption was successful.
Otherwise I have a 2006 Manual with 42,000 miles on it, that uses 2/3 of a quart per 1000. It remained like this since I first discovered it at 26,000. Did not get any worse.
I am now @ 450 miles after a deep cleaning. Need to check @ 1000.

This is my latest attempt, because I have tried everything else.
This time I have in the crank case 4 quarts oil used in diesel engines and 1/2 quart MMO.
The compression rings are all fine (compression is very good)only the oil rings have a problem.
I hope nothing is broken and the cleaning solution will free them all.

For anyone that has had their engine replaced:

Have any of you experienced a very mild rattle on cold starts that only lasts about 2-3 minutes? I'm getting a very faint random sequence rattle when I start the car after sitting for a long period. Doesn't sound like a bearing, it's a more random rattle. It only happens after about 30-60 seconds from starting the car and will continue for about 2 to 3 minutes then go away.

I tried to pinpoint the sound from under the car using a screwdriver to the ear but I cant find where it's coming from but it definitely sounds internal (either engine or trans). Has anyone had this issue after receiving a new engine from Infiniti?

My engine has been re-built, non-Nissan warranty, no problems at all.

To reduce oil consumption try not to engine brake or leave the car in vacuum at higher rpms. If you drive aggressively that will also add to the consumption. I did that a lot during my oil consumption test and in 3000 miles I took out 2 and a half quarts. I wanted to make sure I got a new short block from it.

Mine has always rattled on start up until the Oil Pressure is up. About 1/2-1 second.

My 2011 Nissan Frontier with the 4.0L does the same only a bit shorter.

Mine lasts about 2-3 minutes though, until the car begins to warm up.

Borderline. They could prob call it either way. Mine was 8-10 and they tried to push me out the door. I brought all pages of the tsb, and had to show them. Be vigilant, print it out. Bring it with you and ask
