Question about OC test
I just started an OC test with the dealership yesterday and asked if I was allowed to check the oil. They said not to touch it because the everything is sealed. So naturally I open the hood to see what has been sealed and could not find anything. Are these seals visible?

On my M-35 they put a type of caulking around the top of the dipstick tube and around the filler cap. The oil plug and filter were smeared with a type of white out paint. The damn dip stick is so goofy it is really hard to read, I found that the reading was always lower on the stick when the engine was left over nite rather than 30 min ofter shut off. Too much oil was on the side of the stick to get a real good reading. Make sure you do not let the car out of sight when the level is being checked. Great President said " Trust but verify"

Interesting I started the OC test as well this past Friday but the dealership didn't mention anything about me not checking my oil nor do I see any seal or white stuff on my oil cap.
After 150miles I'm already hearing the knocking sound again. Checking the dip stick is like huh??? It always looks low and like someone said earlier if it sits over night there's too much oil on the stick.

i just got my oil changed today
and im starting my oil consumption test today
they did not seal my oil cap or anything...
they did not tell me to not check the oil or anything either..
when i bring it in for my 1000 mile check up, what are they supposed to look for? what am i supposed to look for? should i ask to watch them test it, to make sure that they dont screw me over?

There is a good/no good consumption scale that the dealership uses, It really is primitive as the level is really hard to read on the poorly designed dip stick. I have found that the most accurate reading is after a nite long cold soak. My experience with the dealership was very pleasent but the accuracy of the dipstick reading is critical. I would check it my self the morning after and not let the car out of my sight when the dealer checks it. The phrase "warrenty audit" is real and if the dealership has a level of warrenty repairs that is out of the accepted range by the factory, they will do what ever they can to not warrenty problems because they will be audited and we know what that feels like.

Had my oil and filter changed today and they started the oil consumption test. They put a score mark on my dipstick to mark the oil level and told me to return in 500 miles. When I got home, I waited 2 hours and checked the oil level on the stick. It seems to be at the level of the score mark and I took pics to document things.
I'm not sure why I was told to return in 500 miles instead of the 1000 - 3750 range outlined in the TSB, but I'll go along for now. I'll keep everyone posted.
