I think it is "normal." If you do a search...EVERYONE has this problem. I believe someone previously put some kind of tape or cover to "hide" the crack when the glove box is closed. Quick and dirty fix I guess.

ya i just leased an 06 coupe last week and i noticed the light thru the crack...i thought it was normal...i'm going to see the dealer this saturday again to drop off an extra set of car keys from my trade in...i'll ask him about it and repost then....
SOLUTION:
It IS normal. Buy some self-adhering foam weather stripping tape that you'd use on your storm door at home. Choose a density that you believe will be sufficient to better seal the opening and cut to size (there are dozens of thicknesses).
I had to do this for my glove box because my seat is all the way back and the light peeks from inside just enough to annoy me. A 0.50"x0.50" foam piece the length of the width of the glovebox solved the problem in 30 seconds. Peel of the backing and stick it in place...and it looks factory, and its graphite colored too so it seamlessly blends in
Where's the ingenuity in this forum?! Hit Home Depot or Lowe's and fix it!
