I think it is "normal." If you do a search...EVERYONE has this problem. I believe someone previously put some kind of tape or cover to "hide" the crack when the glove box is closed. Quick and dirty fix I guess.

It is not a "problem". The car was made that way. The light is always on. Every G35 out there has the light on in the glove box.

I believe a lot of G's from 03-06' have this problem. I looked around the glove box and never found a pressure switch or anything. I'm assuming it was meant to be this way.

Yeap, mine has the same problem (or maybe it's not a problem) too. When the headlights are on, the glovebox light is on. As simple as that.

I don't think its a problem...the lights there come on when the headlights are on. Turn daytime running lights off and use the regular lights.

SOLUTION:

It IS normal. Buy some self-adhering foam weather stripping tape that you'd use on your storm door at home. Choose a density that you believe will be sufficient to better seal the opening and cut to size (there are dozens of thicknesses).

I had to do this for my glove box because my seat is all the way back and the light peeks from inside just enough to annoy me. A 0.50"x0.50" foam piece the length of the width of the glovebox solved the problem in 30 seconds. Peel of the backing and stick it in place...and it looks factory, and its graphite colored too so it seamlessly blends in

Where's the ingenuity in this forum?! Hit Home Depot or Lowe's and fix it!

Perfect solution if you never want to be able to see anything in the dark. Whatever floats your boat I guess.
