just dynoed

well the vortech installation is about to begin so i figured id go get a baseline dyno before the sc, i say baseline but i have and injen CAI and the injen SES, i had my zex installed but didnt use it because i had taken my bottle out, (doh!), anyway i paid 60$ for 3 pulls, some pics are below.

started with 230hp, ended up with 235.4, with no adjusting, just back to back pulls, plus because some of his business neighbors have complained about the noise so he had to put the large exhaust plumes on, he said you lose about 7 hp with those on, it was pretty hot, about 86 degrees, air/fuel looked great, it did run a little lean at the top end.

for some reason my slip light stayed on for a while afterwards, than kicked off later, anyway enjoy the pics.

Re: just dynoed

what was the weight of the car you used when dynoing and did you tune it in 4th gear and what mph did you start recording at?

Re: just dynoed

You're slip light most likely stayed on because you did not shut VDC off before your dyno. This is a problem (for the VDC system) because it monitors ALL four wheels when the car is running. If it sees that your rear two whees are rotating at 100 mph and sees that the front wheels arn't moving it probably faults out since this isn't likely to happen in the 'real' world. The Slip light will stay on until you shut the car off and let it set for a while, then start it back up. I had to restart mine about 5 times before the light shut off! I'm sure it's just a diagnostic thing, and nothing to worry about!

Re: just dynoed

i dont know the weight he used, i know it was in 4th but dont know the mph, on one of my dyno sheets it recorded mph which was 106 i think, as far as the slip light, we did turn vdc off the first run, but i bet he didnt on the last 2. so youre probably correct. i forgot to tell him on those 2 runs.

Just a little FYI:

The weight of the car has nothing to do with the dyno numbers! The dyno measures actual torque. That's it, and A/F should you choose.
Looks like you are a bit rich acroos the board on those runs. You could lean it out a little for better response. But seeing as you have the zex kit, better to leave it alone.

Also you can see he started at around 2500 rpms. Mph does nothing either on a dyno. Which gear doesn't make but only a slight difference. To use lower gear runs out real fast.

Re: just dynoed

Shouldnt you be in 5th gear on your 6MT? That is the 1 to 1 ratio for that tranny. Numbers might be off if you use any other gear.

Re: just dynoed

The gear doesn't matter that much, actually. However, for A/F tuning purposes it's my observation that 5th gear is best on a DynoJet dynomometer because it puts the most load on the car. On a DynoPack there's no difference whatsoever between 3rd and 5th in my experience.
