finally tuned 2003 G35 coupe

So I finally got my car tuned at functiontuned and the car is running very well. My first initial run came out to be only 255WHP... This was a shock to me and I really wasn't too happy but Dave kept telling me the dyno he has is the heartbreaker of all dynos. He says on any other dyno it would of came out to be around 270-280whp.... something about a 10% difference.

So after about 2 hours of him doing several runs, the final run came out to be 282WHP... and all the way through the power band, it gained 30 torque.... and he also said again on any other dyno it would be around 300-310whp. Not to mention, he really did dyno the car in extreme conditions like leaving the car on the whole time and the shop being at a temperature of 95F. Overall, he did a great job.

What is weird is now my car feels like it has partial boost.... I'll start off in 1st gear and from idle till about 3500K it feels pretty slow but after that.... IT JUMPS FAST AS HELL! Right after the dyno, I drove down to Virginia Beach... After I got down there, I went for a drive by myself to test out the car around 2AM. After passing Atlantic Avenue and getting on to HWY 60? ( i think) I had a 2002 SS camero chase me down. We got up to 40MPH and I honked 3 times.... He jumped slightly in top of 2nd but in 3rd I pulled and pulled and ....... by the time I hit top of 5th (around 130MPH) it looked like he was back about 6+ cars...it was pitch black and I couldn't measure too well. I've never pulled from a SS like that and my 5th feels like 4th... After I slowed down, found out the SS had intake and exhaust....6 speed.... LOL, the guy thought I was spraying and refused to believe it was all motor.

Only crappy part is sometimes after driving and I slow down to break, the car dies and I have to restart it again.... due to the cams and tune. I think dave has talked me into getting a nitrous kit and putting a 200-300 shot.... he says it will handle it all day with my built internals. We'll see.

Thanks Chris at EliteImportz for the great motor install and thanks Dave at Functiontuned for the great tune.

what have you done to your car other than the tune? What did you have added to the engine or changed out?

Good numbers. I suggest taking it to a dynojet to see where you stand normalized to other dynojets.

Wow, those numbers are too good to be true. The gain itself for just a tune is incredible, and those peak numbers for any dyno dynamics are very for high. That would be above 300 rwhp on most other dynos.

Also, why is there a power dip at 5300 RPM? Clutch slipping?

EDIT: Whoops, I didn't know you had a built NA motor.

Ahh I see. I completely missed the second part of his post. Now it makes perfect sense

I would love to have 280 RWHP on a dyno dynamics. Must be a blast to drive

opps, yeah guys its a built motor with pretty much all boltons. I definilty want to take it to a dynojet when i can to see where it sits... but as I said, dave at functiontuned already did the conversion and he claims around 310-320WHP...

Maybe not but I havn't seen any fully built NA G35/350Z running around to compare. Also its only a 3.6L NON REVUP. I really didn't even expect this much. 300WHP at 6500 isn't even the point.... the gains I have all through the powerband is what really gets me.... Any professional tuner will tell you that. Plus when time is right, boost will come. Good luck on your build.
