Replacing the Music box HD

Infiniti says available space is 9.3 gig, they are probably using some of the other space for the NAVI and other stuff.

Has anyone ever tried to replace the current hard drive. Does anyone have any specs on it ?

It's one of these, from Seagate. I believe it's the 30GB version. Someone has done a swap on another forum, I can't find the link right now though.

I was doing this this morning. When using Itunes you need to make a playlist to burn.

Learn from me, name your playlist the artist's name. That is what the G puts as the artist and then it rips the track titles. Really annoying when you have to go in and change each file to the correct artist.

edit: I just went and checked and the songs did indeed copy to the hard drive correctly. It was just the disc name that correlated with the playlist name. The artist info is fine.

Oh also I am using cd-rw's. burn, copy, erase, repeat. I use like 4 at a time that way when I am just driving around I will eventually finish em off. However many I finish that is how many more I make that night.

I would be VERY interested in finding this post/thread. I am willing to attempt a HDD swap and some sort of computer to HDD copy of MP3s.

Any luck finding it?

Thanks

Yeah, I believe that is the one I read. I read that before I bought my car even.

I was thinking that 9.3gb wouldn't be enough space for mp3s, but with the poor encoding level (let's face it 132kbit is pretty laaaame (puns intended)), it's turned out that I don't use the music box much at all. I'll stick with my CF cards where I can keep the encoding at a much more reasonable 224kbit.

Actually, it records a lot more quickly than play time, and you can move away from the CD player to one of the other sources while it's recording. One cd takes about 10 mins at most to record. Still wish you could get music from the CF card to the HD or something, but anyway.

Tamir
