2007 g35 sedan backup camera help

Hi, I have a 2007 G35 sedan with NAV AND BOSE, I went into the trunk today and removed the trunk panel, I notices that attached on the reverse light harness is an extra pin connector (see picture). I am guessing that this is for the reverse camera. Does anyone know if this is in fact the connection to conncet the reverse camera? Also will the reverse camera and chrome trim from a 2009 G37 sedan fit my 2007 G35 sedan? thanks

An 09 chrome finish strip will fit your 07.

i have an extra camera hanging around i was going to use for a project like that, never put it in though, but if you need pics of the harness let me know. i can't quite tell from your photo what you have but the stock harness is 4 pins, about 3/4 inch by 3/4 squared.

This connector may be for the optional spoiler unless you already have one installed.

if the spoiler has a light then it will have a two pin connector, power & ground.

Could anyone by any chance figured out this? I think I have the exact setting as yours, which is a 35 with boss and nav. I would like to purchase the trim and camera if this works for them. Longing for a backup camera for a while. !!

Thanks!!!!

I just did some investigation myself, and removed the trunk trim. So I see there is a four pin connecter sitting quietly along with the other cables.

A close picture, macro shot, reveals that it has two pins and two connecter hole. Could the master confirm this is the right connector for a backup camera? If so, I think I would purchase one and test it out for reals.

Also, question, how can I tell if the car's steering wheel comes with the rotation senor (or names in something else) that detects the direction of the vehicle? Or I am completely out of luck for this?

Thanks!

well unfortunately that does not appear to be the backup cam connector. i double checked the camera i have from an m35 and it has 4 pins, so the mating side on the car would need 4 holes. that very well may be for a spoiler or something else, not sure though....

as far as checking for a rotation sensor you would need to remove the plastic trim around your steering column then just look for the harnesses. use this thread to remove the trim:

https://g35driver.com/forums/v36-diy...t-paddles.html

im not 100% sure offhand what the sensor/harnesses look like but the manual should have it in there, otherwise i'll look for you this afternoon.

don't lose hope though, i don't know alot about the model you have but i would like to believe the backup module harnesses were included with the nav model....

i think there is a control unit on ebay for cheap right now if you want to grab it. also i have a backup camera for sale which should work, although you'll need the spoiler trim for it.
