Is it possible to wire something from under arm rest to cup holder?

I was hoping to pass the ipod connect cable from the armrest area direcly through to the cup holder, where I was hopign to build a dock. Anyone know if it's possible to do this without ripping apart my car? I would like it to be as clean/invisible as possible so that I don't have to explain ripping into my car if I decide to sell it some day. Thanks!

1. Extending Cable: You can extend the factory iPod cable using the ReVolt cable described here: https://g35driver.com/forums/v36-aud...4h2-1ba0b.html.

2. Pass Through: Instead of passing the cable through the cupholder, it is much easier to pass the cable under the console so that it comes out near the footwell. A local installer charged me 50 bucks in labor and it took them approximately 45 minutes to complete the work.

3. Cradle/Mount: You should check out ProClipUSA.com. I have used their mounts and cradles for about 4 years in multiple cars. They are pricey, but the build quality is great and it looks really well integrated. I'm attaching pics below. All you have to do is enter the make/model of your car and select which specific phone model you have and the website shows you the rest.

The pictures below have the mount and clip installed on a 2008 G35 Journey. I went with the Console Mount (Link). Because I have an iPhone 3GS and I don't use a protective case around it, I got the padded holder with tilt swivel and pass-through connector (Link). Installation of the mount and holder were easy (screwdriver only) and took approx 5-10 minutes.

I have done both for different things.. either way for the love of god don't pay 50 bucks for someone to do it. however you will have to do a decent amount of dismantling to get a pass through to the cupholder. since you don't want to do that, here is how to do what the guy above did in about 10 minutes for free.

1- take off vent piece under arm rest.
2- unscrew arm rest
3- drill hole in the back of the cubby making sure not to hit the plastic vent.
4- run wire through hole
5- run wire through side of center console
6- done

Hey guys,

Thanks for the info so far. I should have clarified. My plan is to build a small dock within the cup holder where I can just drop my iphone in and it will instantly be integrated.

I did not want to get the proclip or any mounts because I don't want anything visible--I dont wan't someone breaking into my car thinking there will be a GPS laying around or something just because I have a mount there.

So my plan was to try to send the wire from the arm rest to the cup holder, where I will have the cable attach to a dock I'll make.

Alternatively, if someone has an idea of how I can pass the wire out from the cup holder area out into the cabin neatly, that would work, too. Because since I'm using an extension cord, I can just have the cord hanging out of the arm rest down to the floor near the driver side seat (hidden out of view), connected to the cable that I passed out of the cup holder. That works just as well. But the problem with both of these things is that the ends of the cable are sort of big..like an inch or so long and 1/3" thick...so I can't just "drill a hole" to pass the wire...I'd have to cut something out to fit it through. And that sucks.
