Any direct replacement speakers out there?
I searched but couldn't find the answer. I know the front door and rear deck woofers are super thin. I'm looking to replace those to give a cleaner bass/mid-bass sound. Has anyone found a plug n play replacement, or at least something that can be used without too much modification? I came from a BMW which had a couple direct replacement options, so I thought the G might too, but no luck so far.

I don't have the premium package so i've never bothered to look into it but i'd imagine once you find the size you can find some decent drop in speakers. I'm sure this has been done before though so i'd start by using the search here and over at myg37.com. I'll bet you find what you're looking for.

I have a pretty good amount of knowledge about the audio system in these cars. I'm somewhat of an audio enthusiast (hobby) and recently replaced my factory system with higher end equipment. These cars are actually really flexible to work with and have room for a lot of options. The speaker locations of the factory 3-way are ideal for getting a good sound stage.
Here's a system diagram of what I'm currently using.
With custom baffles you can fit pretty much any size mid bass speaker you want to in the bottom doors. With a little modification you can go as large as 3.7" dia and 2" depth With the mid range in the upper doors. If you make the hole larger in the sail panels you can go with larger tweeters.

Thanks for the recommendations. When I blew the 8" door woofers in my Celica All-Trac I replaced them with some Kicker RMB8 mid-bass - sounded pretty good even with the stock amp. Those were the thinnest I could find, but did have to do some modifications with a hacksaw on the bezels to get them to fit.
