tire size question

hey guys, i really don't know much when it comes to cars. I just drive the hell outta my 07 g sedan. lol. well i need new tires bad. i have the 07 sedan with the sport staggered rims 18x7.5 F with 225/50/18 and 18x8.5 R with 245/45/18. I was wondering if it would be ok to go 225/45/18 F and 235/40/18 R? might be a weird question but it was because i wanted to make the rims look a little bigger. Feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

That will result in a 4.8% difference in tire size between the originals and your replacement. That is too great a difference and you risk brake failure as your ABS system tries to adjust to this difference. You should stay under 3%.

See the image for more info.

Narrower and lower profile in the rear?

Even if it did work, your car would ride worse and get worse traction.

If you want to make the rims look bigger..... get bigger rims. Putting rubber bands for tires on them will just make them look silly. Not larger.

agreed. you can get a set of rims+tires used for barely more than what a new set of tires costs anyway, and your car will look instantly unique.

let us know what you decide.
