proper brake bedding procedure
proper brake bedding procedure
I have read NUMEROUS things on this topic, and want to know what others recommend / have experienced with this.
I may be getting new rotors/pads soon due to suspected warping, and if I do end up getting these replaced, I am worried that my break in on the brakes was something that contributed to my braking issues currently.
I may be 100% wrong, but knowledge = power, does it not?
Thanks

Couldn't find the one I've used before, but this one seems to have the same info. Note that as I understand it, this beds the pads and rotors for immediate track use - in normal stop-and-go street traffic, the layer of pad material on the rotor will wear off. The pads will still be bedded (heat-cycled to settle the composition).
I used this procedure when I put the Hawk pads on the Maxima, can't say whether or not it made a difference.

Just don't do any HARD stopping for a few hundred miles and you'll be fine.
Some crack ***** rear ended me last week and I've noticed that the steering wheel shimmy has been worse since being tapped in the back side.
I talked the adjuster into added new rotors to my claim so I'm also going with new rotors.
The OEM rotors are crap but I'll take new ones if they are free.
If I was to buy new rotors, I'd shop for something other than OEM replacements.... which will just warp again.
