Tire Size Question
Tire Size Question
i have an 08 sport and ima have to get new tires before i head to college this coming fall.
my question to you guys is how do u feel about going diff sizes than OEM.
for instance, id like to keep the rear the same size but switching the front 225/50/18 to a 225/45/18. i figured it out on the tire size calc and oem sidewall height it 4.4, with the 45 its 4.2 i believe. and stock rear is 4.3. im thinking i can get away with this size and not sacrifice much.
any input is appreciated, thanks guys.

I'd rather go with a 235/50/18 F and 255 in the rear. The lower profile will look wierd without dropping the car, and it'll ride worse.
Plus, that way I can buy the Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 tires that I want.

SilverG, check out the Eagle F1 Asymmetrics - I was going to buy GSD3s, but these are the newer version and are supposed to have even better traction. There are good reviews on Tire Rack.
I like them so far, although with the aggressive tread on the shoulders (good for cornering
) they sometimes look kinda...puffy.
isnt going with a 235 up front a bit big. i mean, i just looked at my car and its gonna look pretty damn beefy with a 235 because the 225 isnt even close to being stretched on the 7.5 rim

I run 245/45/18 all around on my car and like it. They work great.
I was running 255/40/18 for a while all around but the diameter was a bit small.

Your 08 sedan came with 245/45 on the back, I don't think they look stretched, On the other hand the fronts would bulge out a bit, but I think it would still look pretty good.
I'm definitely going to go staggered. With the stock tires, the front already bulge more than the rear.
And I don't mind being off 1mph on my speedo on the highway. It may actually CORRECT my speedo (since it reads faster than I'm actually going).
