How much tread life for OEM tires?
How much tread life for OEM tires?
I was wondering how many miles you could possibly get from the OEM tires. I know its pretty much the driving conditions you are in but on average. can anyone give me a number? i have around 18K on my G. thanks
I had about 15K on my 17" Goodyears before I swapped them out for my 19" Falkens. Although they appear to have plenty of tread left, they are slick on cold roads and downright dangerous on wet roads.
Of course, I could slow down a little too.

Just changed out my 18" Potenzas at 22k, they had 3/32nds left on the rears and 5/32nds on the fronts. I was down to the wear bars in the back so definately time to change 'em.
My first set of Potenzas lasted 9.8k, the second set lasted 9.2k. The back tires still had some tread left, but the edges of both fronts were gone; guess I corner fast...
Still, I got a killer deal on the second set ($500), so no big deal. Am sincerely hoping the Eagles last longer tho.

My first set also last me around 10K miles. Fronts were still good, but the rears were completely gone. hahaha
And I just happened to picked up my 20s back then... lol What a coincidence?

At 20K the Goodyears look like they have a couple of months' wear left in them - but I will definitely replace them in November. Unlike Aeson, I thought they were pretty good in wet conditions though I don't push the G very hard then. I am also looking at suggestions for good all season tires for moderately cold/wet weather for the X in the stock 17" rim size - or be convinced to upgrade to a larger rim size
The Falken 912s get decent reviews for a performance All-season
