Things that suck about a drop
I've had to totaly relarn how to drive when it comes to driveways and bumps. I nailed a raised manhole cover in the middle of the road this morning while thinking I could drive over it, WRONG. I was going about 15 miles an hour, thank goodness for the plastic piece underneith the bumper. I checked it after it happened and it didn't seem loose, I'll just have to be more careful. I measured from the end of the plastic strip under the bumber to the ground and I have about 5 inches of clearence. I can't imagine what I would do if the springs would of dropped the car anymore. Thanks for letting me rant.
well, lack of clearance is about the only bad thing about at drop...on 2nd thought maybe blown shocks as well.
similar incident with me. there was a nice chunk of ice about 2 months ago that was sitting on a 2 lane road (so i really could not avoid it) and i ran over it. i then subsequently heard a massive *CLUNK* and felt the shock of the ice block hitting my engine liner. as it turns out, that ice block tore a huge gash in my engine liner.
if my car was not dropped, i would have cleared it easily (but still no regrets)

You get used to it, but when you get lower, thats when you have to start parking on the streets. I'm not at that level yet, but with my new coilovers ready to be installed, that might be the case.
Just yesterday I messed up and cracked my OEM front lip. Tried making a turn and rushed it, didn't stop the vehicle in top and hit a small curb. Used fiberglass on the inside to hold it back together and I'm using touch up paint but it's just not the same as before. You can tell theres a little bit of damage but it's MUCH better than driving with a cracked lip. It's either that or driving with a front bumper with holes.
I'd say another possible thing to worry about is driving speed. If you're going fast and all of a sudden see a dip, bump, or anything in the street, and brake hard to slow the car down and avoid it as much as possible, someone following behind too close or not paying attention can rear end you.

You hit a manhole cover with 5" of clearance?
Was there a guy sticking his head out of it at the time?
Maybe you hit his hardhat!

it was only last night when he was urging me to do a drop... leaving out the part that he damaged his car cuz of it
sorry wes, that's the reality of dropping your car. there are pros and there are cons. and to me, the pros outweigh the cons. if you want a little drop, as discussed on many threads, impuls are your friend.
Great, now let's tell Wes about how many electrical issues we're having since installing our paddles.
Just kidding Wes... really... no issues. Really.
Will... sounds like you need to go back to stock ASAP.
I'll take those Impuls off your hands for you.
That's what friends are for ya know.

G35xQX1 - no doubt.. that is the reality of a drop. Thats why im quite hesitant. But if I was gonna do a drop, it would be impuls.. thats for sure. Eibachs are too much for me. Tonight, I actually hit a HUGE pothole with my car loaded with 5 ppl! :S :S :S....
There was a thud.. but I think everything is okay... will have to check tomorrow when its bright out. But man... if I was dropped... it would be game over :S
I seriously gotta think it over a hundred times over if I wanna do a drop or not. Maybe when I hook up my 19's and see the huge gap at the front of the car.. maybe that will push me over. lol
AesonVirus - The paddles haunt me everywhere I GO!! AHHHH!!!! lol Even on a thread completely unrelated!! LOL
