Last weekend I washed my G. It sat under the carport for a couple of days like it usually does since I drove my truck most of the time. I decided to take the G out for spin, started it up, put it in reverse, and took my foot off the brake. The car didn't move even after touching the accelerator. I checked the parking brake thinking I had left it on. Nope. I double-checked behind me in case I was stupid enough to have been trying to push my truck out of the way. Nope. Not until I gave it about half-throttle did *something* break loose and I rocketed out of the carport.

It felt like the rear brakes were in a bind. I could feel the engine working against something that was frozen solid, then suddenly broke loose after enough torque was applied. I've never had a vehicle with rear disc brakes do this before. Considering I'm still new to the G at slightly under 2,800 miles, is this a characteristic of this vehicle after washing and sitting?

My car has done this several times (2008 g37 coupe).

It's because you washed it & let it sit.
Rust & wet brake dust glued the pads.

Reverse is also the worst direction.
If they bind like that, just nudge forward a bit.

Hmmm. Maybe it's the pad composition or just really close tolerances. I know rotors form surface rust after sitting for a very short period of time, but that usually results in a slight scraping sound and a bit of grabby-ness during the first application or two. It was probably just the right combination of time, temperature, and humidity.

Mine does this also,, since it gets washed alot in winter,, but mine sits in a garage, not heated though,, def. the same thing,, allthough i don't have to give it much gas to break free...

My 6 speed does this routinely if parked with wet pads and it sits overnight.
I put the e-brake on when it's parked so I expect it to do this. My 04 6 speed was the same way.

Next, however, I've got to figure out what this horrible loose banging sound near the front, left wheel is that developed this evening at 2,800 miles. Sounds like a loose suspension component. I LOVE my G, but I never had a single issue with my last two Hondas. It's ironically similar to the noise my Regal started making as it approached 100,000 miles when I traded it off. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come. Already I've managed to scrape the front lower bumper. Then the other day my truck rolled into the rear bumper. I polished off the paint, but there's still a little 2" crease in the plastic bumper. Ugh.
