Problems with rear SPC camber

Hey,

Very disappointing day today. Went to have the rear camber installed but couldnt have it go into spec. Whenever they would adjust the camber the toe would be off. If they adjusted the toe back into spec, it would throw the camber off. I forgot to ask them for a print-off to post on here but they said they adjusted the camber from -2.40 to about -1.30

Can anyone inquire?

I watched them try to adjust it, the camber would be off when they adjusted the toe, then the toe would go off when they tried to adjust the camber

Sure they all interact while being aligned.
But for a GOOD tech this should be no problem.

Did they install toe bolt kit along with the arms? I needed the bolts to get toe into spec.

sounds like they did NOT install the toe kit correctly. It is not just about putting the toe bolt in, they have to grind down the capsule shaped hole for extra movement on the inside. If they didn't do this, there is no added toe correction over stock!!! Eibach is a conservative drop, they should easily be able to correct camber and toe if you had the camber/toe kit installed.

Also, as above, the shop could be bad. Some shops are just used to correcting toe and don't even bother with camber. go to the dealer if you have to.

Here's mine from last week (with SPC front camber kit as well):

I did not need the rear toe kit. I can tell you, when you adjust camber, it does affect the toe. My toe was WAY off when I installed the SPC camber arms, and I adjusted the camber arms (not the toe) to get the toe in so I could at least drive the car. This obviously changed the camber too, but it got my toe close to spec.

I agree that you need to go to another shop.

Some people have reported that they were able to zero the toe without the toe bolts and some reported they needed the toe bolt. Because the install is so easy, I would recommend that people just go ahead and install them--heck they come with the SPC camber arms anyways, so why not?

Here is the toe kit DIY for anyone interested. The dremel cutting bit mentioned cuts the metal like butter!

+1 on going to a different/better shop. the guy(a 2-3 person local performance shop) who did my alignment was able to get my toe, in spec after the eibach drop. he had to setup for an extra deg of neg camber in order to achieve this though. i have the toe-bolts but i did not install them. he said that the -1 deg of camber will accelerate the wear of the rear tires, but not by much. i would just keep an eye on tire wear and get them installed if needed. it's toe-in/out that eat up tires the most. hope this helps
