Tire size 285/35/19

hey guys i need a little help with choosing my next set of tires for my rear rim.
i have 19x9.5 offset 40, currently running 275/35/19 dunlop. i want to go wider tires for this setup, do you think 285/35/19 will fit without any problems? im lower on tein h-tech which gives about 1" lowered on the rear.
from the looks of it i have about roughly between 1/2"-1" gap, it looks like it fits but i want to be sure
heres an old pic of my car so you can get an idea. thanx

depends on the type of tire you go with and the side wall...WHY do you want to run 285, traction cannot be an issue

According to the tire calculator, the 285/35/19 will be off about 2.86%.(from 27.64" to 26.85") To me that's a little much, but it's up to you.

The 275/35/19 is the optimum size to avoid any large diameter differences.

I would just stick with what you have, but if you do feel the urge the 452's would be the once i recommend since they have a slim side wall

I think that you will be OK. The OD for the accepted 275/35-19 ranges from 26.5" - 26.7" where the OD for the 285/35-19 rnages from 26.6" - 26.9". It matches closer to the front 245/40-19 then the 275 actually. The section width does increase about 1/2" - 3/4" compared to the 275 (thats only 3/8" on each side). I think that you will be fine. I also have a set of 285/35-19 waiting for some Iforged wheels to arrive so they better damn well fit. Just like you, I liked the wider look, not so much into the stretched look.

Could you post some front to back close up wheel well shots that show how much space you have with your current set up?

Any updates? How did the 285s fit in back? I'm planning on throwing 285/35/19s in the back, too. But for the front, I'm thinking of 255/40/19. I am not lowering my car so I want to fill in as much wheelwell gap that I can.

not really an update , but i did end up getting new tires for the rear. just not the size i really wanted. end up getting 265/35/19 from a member on this forum which was a great deal. 300 for the pair brand new so i just jump on it. so far so good and i dont feel the difference from the 275.
im sure 285 will fit your rear especially when your not lowering it. even if your lower about an 1" like i am its still alot of room left from what i can see.
as for the front if your thinkin about lowering it you might have a problem, originally i was gonna pick up some 255/40/19 for my front but when i put it up against the 245/40 it looks like it'll rub but if your not planning on lowering it you should be fine.
