New tire question

I've got about 45K miles on my tires ('07 G35X) and am heading into a Colorado winter, so I'll be getting some new tires soon. Any suggestions for tires? Should I let the dealer put them on or is it better to go to a tire place, such as Discount Tire?

I'd suggest a winter setup. They get a lot of snow and crappy weather, don't they?

Should I let the dealer put them on?
Only if you have money to burn

+1 on the winter set up - I personally have Dunlop Winter Sports but they are new I have yet to go through the winter with them but I hear nothing but good things about them. Also I hear a lot of positive feedback from Bridgestone Blizzaks.

If your winters are like our new england winters you will be happy you did. I wouldnt be bring it to the dealer either, take a look around at your local tire shops it will be much cheaper on the wallet.

DO NOT GO TO THE DEALER !!!!!!!!!!!
just take your tire size and go to a tire place and they will get you tires cheaper than what the dealership will charge. and if you are worried about the winter then get a winter setup

^ I know!!! Wow!!! I've got just over 10K on my car and my rears are completely gone (1/32" tread left), and my fronts have less than half the tread left. I can't believe anyone could even get over 20K miles out of the factory tires.

Incidentally, Tire Rack usually has some of the best tire prices around. Just go to www.tirerack.com.

Bridgestone Blizzaks W60 is what I run. Theyre awesome for snow and ice. It is on the softer side though. If you want a sporty winter tire, this isnt the set for u.

In your location get yourself some dedicated winter rubber (not all season)

So those are just for winter driving? Then do I have to get a new set-up for summer?

Yeah you should have the winters on from about Thanksgiving to Tax Day. The rest of the year you can run Summers or All-Seasons.

Okay - good advice. Denver winters aren't actually that bad and most of the time the snow melts in a few days. What are some suggestions for a good all season tire?
