4x4 SUV winter tires on G35x

4x4 SUV winter tires on G35x

Is it okay and safe to use 4x4 SUV winter tires on G35x, like the Continental 4x4 WinterContact? Are there any pros and cons compare to regular winter tires of the same size? Thanks.

Yes, you can get those in passenger sizes. But, if there's no incliment weather, and just driving on a dry surface, you are increasing your fraking distance as well as decreasing your vehicles performance. Pretty much going from a W or V rated tire depending on coupe or sedan, to an S oe a T rated tire.

You buy tires for load, road conditions in your area and performance. SUV tires are for different load and different performance. Stick with tires for the cars.

BTW, are the studs legal in the US? Because I'm going to put these tires (225/55/R17):

Studs are legal in most if not all states but there are regulations.
In MA, they're only allowed from November to April I believe.

Google it for laws in your state.
BTW... Blizzaks are the first snow tire to perform better that studded tires and the new WS-70's are not that expensive. Do your homework before deciding.

The very best tires for deep snow and ice are not necessarily the ones to get. Got some WS series one year and hated the poor feel and handling on dry surfaces. Sure they were great in deep snow, but after the snow gets plowed, I hated them. I ride more balanced tires currently.... LM22s, Pilot Alpins.

Well, the one thing I'm sure about is that studded tires WILL perform better on ice! It is proven by all of the car magazines tests and the funny thing is, that usually they perform better even on the dry road, because studless tires are usually softer (studded tires need to hold studs).
