Front Shocks Blown!!!

Hey so I got a 2008 Infiniti G35 Sedan and my car has 80k miles (a lot i know..) But I was have a very bouncy ride and when I would drive over an area of rough road the steering wheel would shake uncontrollably. I thought it was odd and maybe just normal since I bought the car used with 70k miles from family and thought it was just supposed to drive this way. But I took it in to a friend/mechanic and he lifted my car and noticed that my front right shock was blown. The fluid inside was leaking out and was covered with a thick sludge from all the dirt and dust sticking onto the shock. I called infiniti and was able to get 20% off paying $768 for 4 shocks from infiniti (mechanic said to replace all four since God knows how the other ones are going to hold up). So I was just wondering if this had occured with anyone else's G35 or if im geting ripped off and there is nothing wrong with my car. When I say rough road I mean any bit of road that isnt perfectly smooth. For example coming home on the freeway is a nightmare and my 94 Supra or 2003 Gx 470 doesnt seem to have this issue....

most will probably say you shouldve gotten aftermarket tokico or other brand shocks rather than stocks.

I would say 80k on a set of shocks is on the lower side, but not that bad in terms of life.

Personally I have owned many cars that have done 100k without a hint of shock problems.

However this is a sportier car, and has a stiff chassis, spring setup, and frame, and therefore will put more stress on the shocks. Especially depending on how you drive. i.e. how hard you corner.

As for the price you did at the dealer... You do need all 4 when you replace them, but the only way to see how much you were ripped of is to check to see how much a set of bilstein/KYB ect shocks would have been.

I think you got a decent deal....
