07 G35 S - upgrade to 19" wheels...

Hey Guys,
I've done a lot of searching and can't seem to find exactly what I need, so I'm asking the question

My tires are getting low on the my car, so when I replace them, I'm looking to do a 19" setup.

Can someone point me in the right direction with regards to tire size and wheel size. More than likely I won't be doing any suspension work since this is my daily driver and I have 4 seasons.

Could I do a 225/45/19 or 235/40/19 up front and 255/35/19 rear? Or what makes most sense? Given those tires and a stock suspension, what offset range am I looking at?

Thank you!

1. Sell me your 18's lol
2. Are you looking for a staggered setup or the same dimensions in all 4 corners?
3. If you are staying with stock suspension the best offsets for our cars are mid to high 30's(at least i believe so). Any higher and the wheels become too sunk in and any lower and they begin to poke out giving the car an ugly offroading look.
4. If you are willing to go with a minimal drop(something like the eibach kit) you can play with offsets a little more since you will be messing with the camber as well. All depends on what you want to do.

Hope that all makes sense and helps.

haha need the 18's for the winter, sorry

Staggered is preferred, but only if it's something that offers good options without emptying my bank account. lol.

i don't want to mess with the suspension now, so even though I would go Eibach I don't think that's in the immediate plans for this year.

So with that being said, what would you think for sizes?

and for sure, thanks for the help!

If you want a aggressive setup i would go 19x9 Front and 19x10 rear. For a less aggressive setup you can do something like 19x8.5 front 19x9.5 rear. But if your looking for an economical setup, something that you can rotate easily you may be best going with a squared setup 19x8.5 all around. Another option is to go with the same size wheel and stagger the tires. Im not too good with tire sizes so unfortunately cant help with that.

For a near 1:1 overall diameter replacement, those sizes come up rather short. At the least, 245/40's are what you're looking at. 255/40's will be fine as well. If you want a 35 profile, go for 275. (so on and so forth, the wider the lower the profile, and vice versa).

There are so many variables, i think you should first decide on how wide you want to go and whether or not you want to go for the semi-flush, inset or "hella" flush look. Then we can figure out offsets and tire sizes along with possible camber correction as needed.

Honestly, going staggered is not the most economical route as rotations will be a little trickier, resulting in uneven wear and possibly premature tire replacements. Some tires allow you to swap Left<>Right by dismounting/remounting which helps with equalizing camber wear, but you do have to pay to get this done. Other tires allow you to just swap the entire wheel/tire left<>right, but it doesn't address camber wear.

I didn't even realize I typed a 235 tire in there...OOPS.

I guess what I'm looking for a slightly more aggressive look, but nothing too crazy. I like the look of the staggered, but wouldn't be against the same setup all the way around as long as it didn't hurt anything performance wise. I would ideally want a flush setup.

Simple solution:
just run 245/40/19's all the way around and go with a 19x8.5 rim with a mid to upper 30's offset? What offset range do I have for the "safe" zone

more complex:
For staggered, if I go with a 255/40/19 on the back, what should I run up front? 225's? or 235's? and then same offset?

Sorry this is so complicated lol.

I am thinking about running this set up:

Set of 19" staggered wheels/rims.

19" x 8.5" F (35 offset), with 19" x 9.5" R (40 offset). All wheels have Falken 452 tires; and 245 35(front) and 255 40(rear).

Has anyone ran a similar setup?

FRONTS:
- 19x9 +22 to +27 245/35R19
- 19x9.5 +26 to +31 245/35R19

REARS:
- 19x10 +32 to +37 275/30R19 or 285/30R19
- 19x10.5 +36 to +41 275/30R19 or 285/30R19
* 275/30 sidewalls are a tad shorter than 245/35. In other words, your front tires will be taller thatn your rear tires.

Diameter: 19 inches
Width: 8.5J front / 10J rear
Offsets: ET 35 front / ET 42 rear
Bolt pattern: 5x114.3
Centerbore: 66.1 (Direct fit)

I have to say that those sizes don't look too good just based on their diameters. Normal sport (staggered) tire/rim combos run a 26.9" diameter front and a slightly smaller 26.7" rear. That makes a 0.7% diameter difference between fronts and rears. This is all factored into the VDC system.

If you change to those sizes you listed, you'll have a 25.8" diameter front (-4.3% deviation from stock) and a 27.0" diameter rear (+1.3% deviation from stock) for a total difference of at least 5% (Note the total differences are additive given that you're making the fronts smaller and the rears larger simultaneously). This is well outside the tolerance of the VDC system and you will have issues there if you use them.
