DIY: My KP NAV Bypass Install

OK first and foremost, THANK YOU TERRYCS!!! He pretty much did the install and showed me how to do it!!! Terry

I love this mod, hits the ok button right away and can use controls for the NAV is priceless. PM for the other shhhh thing I can do the way I did it.

***DO NOT ATTEMPT, I am not responsible for any problems or warranty issues that arise from use of these notes. This is simply what I did and is not an official how to. Colors of wire may vary***

Also, a couple of the plugs into the back of the unit are the same size... wires with yellow tape stay at the top.

Note: I have NAV with NO rear camera

Main Module has 6 wires:

Twisted Red: to "OK" button (5th from the left)

Twisted Black: to "OK button (2nd from the left)

Yellow Wire: to Pin 25 (purple wire on terminal)

Black Wire: ground on bolt below NAV screen

Green Wire: connect to white wire on the Relay (Pin 85)

Purple Wire: NOT CONNECT TO ANYTHING, I do not have back up camera. Otherwise tap into pin 37 if you do have the camera.

Relay has 5 Wires:

White Wire (Pin 85):connect to green wire from main module

Green Wire(Pin 87): did not connect to anything

Red Wire (Pin 86): connects to same purple wire the yellow wire from Module is connected to.

Blue Wire (Pin 87a): Cut grey (Terminal #38 Vehicle Speed signal) and attach blue wire to the half closest to the terminal.

Black Wire (Pin 30): Connect to grey wire on terminal (other end of grey wire that was cut earlier)

On the terminal:
Cut Teal Wire (Terminal # 36 Parking brake signal) and ground (use wire closest to the terminal). The other end will have 12V to it (just cover it up)

I referred to the manual to remove all the center paneling, very easy.

I unscrewed my shift ****

Then just lifted up and this section pops out.

Unplug cable

When your remove this, this is where you wiring the twisted black and red wire from the main module

I drilled a hole to put the wire though BEFORE soldering

The relay can be pulled apart to see the pin numbers (ex Pin 85, etc)

All wire connections were soldered for strength....

And shrink over it to prevent grounding and shorting

I used the bolts under the NAV screen to ground wires

Now go for a drive, hold the enter button for a couple seconds and your hear a click, now you can use NAV and its features while moving. Keep in mind it will think your car is not moving, so hold the enter button to reengage it. If the automatic "ok" doesn't work in the beginning you need to lengthen the timer on the module.

Hope this helps, as always... anyone that wants a helping hand let me know

Good luck and happy modding

Nice write up. Much easier to do with a second pair of hands to help with the soldering though.

Watching video on the move is not allowed in the forums. The KP Tech module does not allow video on the move.

I would hope this wouldn't get me banned!!! Just trying to help out the community! There was a thread which Terry just posted, this I thought was a littler clearer on the pins and actual color of wires.

You have NAV and you couldn;t use its features when you drive.
Why is that, it doesn't make sense to me?

Doesn't NAV work when you drive cuz thats the whole point. lol

What does this actually do?

makes the car "think" it's stopped and you can enter your destination or what ever you want... and then reengage and the nav will know you're moving again.

Yup, all you have to do is put a switch on the vehicle speed sensor (VSS). But the KP Tech module also clicks the OK on the NAV for you when you turn on the car.
