Changed my old belt today with a Gates belt after 11 yrs 160,000 km. The old belt was squealing in the past three winters. I didn't remove the splash protector underneath cause the screws are all rusted and won't move. I removed the air filter box on both sides and coolant reservoir to make room. The hardest part is have the guts to push the fan forward enough to slip in a breaker bar into the tensioner hole. Make sure the new belt is aligned in all the pulleys grove properly. It should fit without any force. Took me sometime and I hope the new belt won't squeal comes winter.

Just did this on my '08 G35X this evening. Will confirm what a few have already said and that is, remove the bottom engine shield and work from the top and bottom when it comes to routing the belt. Certainly makes things easier.

Another thing is, and not sure why this varies, but my tensioner used a 3/8" drive hole, not 1/2" drive. Use the thinnest ratchet you have too or even better, a serpentine belt tool (the ones made from flat bar with a 3/8" square welded on the end). A pipe on the ratchet for extra leverage is real helpful too - that tensioner was much stiffer than I expected. Without the cheater, I don't think I could have moved it with one hand/arm and had a free hand to insert the allen wrench.
