Personally, I would leave it, maybe you'll notice a slight increase in sound right after you do it, but it's so minor you'll forget about it, it's not gonna change the sound like an intake would.

Same here, i did it because mine was missing the elbow to begin with. Honestly, i don't notice much of a sound difference. Ditto on performance.

nissan has been adding these things to intakes for years. my '93 240 had one. when i put the aluminum intake upgrade on, it even had a hose tap for the thing. i just removed the resonator and capped off the tap on the new intake. it went into my already significant pile of "no longer needed" oem parts.... heh, heh....

the new intake on that engine made a decent and noticeable difference, but that engine NA was always starved for air and exhaust anyway... the bolt ons did a lot more for that small 4 banger then i think they would do for the V36.
