Those with intakes
Intakes........
Those are very cool dual intakes on your new G, they're even pretty. My
concern would be how hot are they going to get. Our motors love cool air
with those metal intake tubes it's not going to happen!

i know, thats what i thought. but its directly related to them. I was thinking its an airflow issue.
and this might be the case as while sitting in 100 degree temps idling with the a/c on, it threw a 0174 code=Lean air condition.
That tells me more air is making it into the motor than the MAF's are reading. Is it possible the piping is too big? causing an inaccurate reading and lean air/fuel mixture. it seems to be running fine otherwise and i haven't heard any pinging/detonation.
if thats not it, there is an air leak between the maf's and throttle bodies

No, you must use dremel tool or some creative cutting to make the hole for the maf to slide into. Then just used some screws to go into the pipe. the maf seals up nicely with the little rubber seal it has on it.

How are you bracing the intake for vibrations or will your heat shield addition do that?

The universal intake kits come with some bendable brackets for you to fab up support. passenger side has a short peice i made that uses the 10mm bolt on the fuel pressure regulator. driver side uses a longer piece i made that uses the 10mm bolt on the first spark plug coil pack. keeps them safe from vibrations.
No offense, but it might just be the fact that you picked up a kit at pep boys, you should go with a reputable company (Stillen, JWT just to name a few). I don't know what is available for the 07 G Sedans though, but isn't stillen's available? I just wouldn't go with an intake that is sold at pep boys and isn't made for our cars.

I will ebay them soon. just gotta get new pieces of pipe to replace the cut ones.
probably will pick up the fujita's. these could still work, just needs the airleak to be found and tended to. I am thinking its leaking around the mafs, nothing a lil gasket maker cant fix.
but, i will ebay them since i dont feel like messing with them anymore. I am trying to get more money so i can place my rim order on aug 31st. that way I will have them on before i leave for the nopi nationals in atlanta.
I originally bought the intakes in january of this year because there was nothing out. so that was the original reason of purchase.

I think the pep boys pipes are just fine since all they do is allow air to flow through them. Stillen charges $400, Fujita charges $300, pep boys charges $150. Id go with the cheaper since theyre all basically the same anyway. I could be totally wrong here, but until someone proves otherwise, those short little pipes are just pipes. No matter what name is on them.
Stillen piping is not stainless steel its coated with something. Id rather trust the R&D guys at Stillen than PepBoys who probably buys their sh*t off the Chinese market. I dont wanna sound like im the richest guy in the world here but 200$ difference is minimal to me on a 40k car....especially if im changing out OEM parts for after market performance parts. Im not down playing what this guy did to his intake at all i think its cool to get creative, but dont say its better to go with cheap stuff than it is to go with reputable stuff that might be more expensive.
i can go buy a mercedez benz to drive me to work but i think ill go buy a kia since its cheaper and does the same exact thing...

And Mercedes to Kia is definately not a fair comparison to make towards the intake differences...lol.
What's the inner diameter of that piping? If it's a different diameter from the stock piping behind the airbox, you're going to change the a/f ratio as the ecu will think a different amount of air is actually entering the motor. I'd be VERY cautious of that on a "custom" setup.
I got the stillen units to test on my car here and while they didn't make all the power, I have yet to have any issues or problems with the setup.
