Gargle
Much like other sedan owners, I like the gargle that the g35s have. I think the 03 coupe have a great sound to them.
I disassembled my intake, took off the extra crap and still used half the stock box with a K&N. It has a deeper sound, better gurgle, and a turbo whistle at accel. AND I still maintain the benefit from the stock engineered box that truly only sux in cooler air instead of putting on a stupid tube that sux engine heated air from the main compartment. Start there then look at exhaust!
Also! TIPS TO CONSIDER:
Do NOT go get a big exhaust, just for sound. You need to examine what is good for the car and performance wise. The outflow must be in compariosn to the intake. You can open up the out flow too much and burn out valves or lose backpressure which is important.
People think because it is louder they are going faster, but If you just trow a tube and cone filter in the compartment and put a huge greddy can on the exhaust it WILL dyno slower. I almost guarantee it, and you can take that to the bank.
Please do research first. CHANCES ARE, THE NISSAN ENGINEERS THAT SPENT MILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT TO PRODUCE THE MOST EFFICIENT PRODUCT THEY CAN EFFECTIVELY...... PROBABLY TOOK THIS INTO CONSIDERATION.
I am not saying dont change it, rather choose the correct parts based on performance numbers on air volumes and temperatures.
Im done now. Sorry. I feel better though.

I just installed then removed the Borla cat back system. Nice low sound. Super quiet at idle but as soon as you get above 1500 rpm, it was roaring. Had a bit of drone (maybe it was the drone that was roaring?). The tone was awsome but the volume was just too much for my "older" ears. No rasp and lower note than stock. I never dynoed it but, for what its worth, I am certain the car accelerated a little quicker.

I just installed my FI catback exhaust and felt the better pull throughout the rpm range above 2k but is not loud at all while cruising and stuff but when you get on her you get a nice deep sporty sound but NOT loud, just what i was looking for. FYI, the manual is supposed to be quieter than the AT with FI exhaust as per Tony from FI
