New Member- Which Exhaust??

Guys- I'm new to the the board and proud owner of 07 g35S 6mt. Picked her up two days ago and still smiling! I'm planning on a few mods, Injen intake, exhaust, wheels, etc.

I'm torn between the Stillen and Fast Intentions exhaust. I dont want anything to loud espicially droning w/ windows up. I have young children (3yr and newborn) that will ride w/ me occassionaly. Looking for pro's - con's of each. any other catback systems i should look at?

i heard the stillen is pretty loud and has a drone at 1500rpm or something like that. I hate drone noises and raspy notes...I don't think stillen or FI is raspy whatsoever, but there is a recent thread in the tech section that talks about the drone in the stillen...very detailed thread.

Personally, whenever i'm done with my sound system I'm definitely going FI exhaust...theirs just sounds too awesome

I love my setup. Replaced mufflers with magnaflows and replaced y pipe with a custom h pipe. NO drone at all, but you def can tell its not a stock exhaust and especailly when u get on it, then it reallllyy comes to life.

Im the one who recently got a stillen catback exhaust. In my opinion, if your not interested in any drone, I would suggest not getting your exhaust system replaced. Especially since you have a 3 yr old child and a newborn (unless they are aspiring michael schumachers.. lol).

Or just replace your mufflers. Dont go with high flow cats.

I suprised myself... how u might ask? I am in love with exhaust notes! Everytime I hear a car go by that has a nice exhaust note.. I utterly love it. So after listening to many and reading many thread about the various exhaust out there, I decided to go with stillen. And after getting it.. I had mixed feelings.

It sounds awesome. No doubt there. Only thing is.. it gets to be too much at times. Its constant. Unless you enjoy hearing that exhaust note 24/7, I would strongly suggest you rethink this mod.

Im still trying to get use to it. Its a love/hate relationship right now for me and my stillen exhaust. If u prefer lux over sporty.. stick with stock. If u HEAVILY prefer sporty... then go with it. Good luck man.

Borla has introduced their new exhaust for 07+ it is expensive but promises 19HP gain and i think no one here has it, i think it might be on the louder side from previous experience but again i have not heard or seen this one in action yet...(someone jump on it spend $1400 and post some soundclips and dynos PLZ!!)

Borla thread
Just another option for you to consider...

Get FI. I love mine ).
It did something because the car is really faster, especially 2nd to 3rd.

Gotta love all the "Which exhaust" threads...

Take your time, do your own research, and most importantly (if possible), hear them in person before you make a decision. I highly doubt you want to make a $1,000 dollar decision based on our personal preferences.

Goodluck

I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH SKATER! Hear them in person!! videos give you an idea as to how it sounds.. but its different in person.

I drove to work this morning and I enjoyed my drive with my stillens this morning. I dont know if its the cooler temp that made it civilized today. It was about 16 Celsius out right now. But it was nice =)

Thanks guys! I live in NJ and could use some recommendations for shops that carry these exhausts or any members that live nearby. Hearing in person is what i need to do.
