VQ35HR/VQ37HR Engines

Hey guys,

I'm reading through this owner's manual and I'm noticing it keeps referencing a VQ35HR engine and a VQ37HR engine. Biggest differences I seem to find is that they use different spark plugs, and the VQ35 recommends 91 octane fuel while the VQ37 absolutely needs 91 octane.

How do I know which of these engines I've got? Is it as simple as G35s have the VQ35 and G37s have the VQ37? Or is it something else? I'm using premium fuel, so I'm not really worried about it...just thought it'd be something worth knowing.

EDIT: Sorry if this is covered somewhere. I searched through a few different forums and couldn't find anything.

You have a VQ35HR

The VQ37 currently on the coupes do not make into the sedans until the 09 model year.

ALL 07+ G35 SEDANS have the VQ35HR while the new 2008+G37 have the VQ37HR, However come next year models both sedan and coupe will carry the VQ37HR.

In simpler words you have the VQ35HR....

^+1 We do have VQ35HR.

VQ37HR is for the G37 coupes and the soon to be released G37 sedans.

VQ37HR has VVEL whereas VQ35HR doesn't.

There are also differences between VQ35DE (1st gen sedans and coupes) and the VQ35HR (2nd gen sedan) such as plenum designs, dual throttle bodies on HR motor, and beefier blocks...

The biggest difference is the 37 is a 3.7 liter motor and the 35 is a 3.5 liter motor.
